Can You Save The Dream That Was America? (Immigration, Values, etc) [Must Read!]
Townhall ^ | June 28, 2007 | Douglas MacKinnon

Posted on 06/28/2007 12:47:38 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As an everyday citizen of the United States, what are your realistic options when you believe your country to be in a death spiral from which it almost assuredly won’t recover?

If you are an American who still deeply believes in the promise of our republic, how can you fight back against those from within, intent on destroying everything you hold sacred by subverting traditional family values, western civilization, national security, and just plain commonsense?

Shockingly, maybe you can’t. I’m told it’s basically too late to save the nation that represents the last best hope for mankind.

Six months ago, my novel “America’s Last Days,” was released. The novel fictionalized a revolution from within led by the former director of the FBI and the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who felt the nation was broken beyond repair and it was their duty as patriots, to try to salvage the remnants of the government established by our Founding Fathers.

Aside from trying to tell an entertaining story, I was also trying to wave a red flag. It was one of the few realistic options open to me.

Since the book’s release in January, I have received hundreds of emails from readers, and hundreds of phone calls from listeners on the radio shows I’ve done around the nation, who feel that the far-left has such a strangle hold on our media, colleges, high schools, entertainment outlets, and even a large percentage of our clergy, that the United States of their fathers and grandfathers, of border security, of politicians who put country before party or self interest, is beyond salvation.

The emails and calls – from police, firefighters, military personnel, and a host of other occupations – focus their pessimism on a few recurring themes. Chief among them is that both parties have compromised our critical border security in a craven attempt to secure the Hispanic-American vote for 2008 and beyond. Aside from the callers and readers, my Hispanic-American wife strongly agrees with that assessment. As a newly minted U.S. citizen who complied with every law of our nation, she feels this White House, the Democratic leadership, and a number of Republicans, have slapped her in the face with their transparent amnesty program for illegal aliens.

Next is the fear that our very politicians are working behind the scenes to fold the United States into a borderless, single currency, part of the “North American Union.”

Beyond that, is the rising anger at those who use political correctness as an excuse to ignore radical Islam, and especially the Islamists in our own nation who mean us great harm. The examples are many but one of the most cited is the fact that liberal executives from PBS – the network you pay for with your taxes – refused to air the film “Islam vs. Islamists: Voices From the Muslim Center.” A film that states that moderate Muslims in a number of Western countries, including the United States, are being intimidated by fanatical Islamists.

These left-leaning executives chose not to air this important documentary for most likely two reasons. First, because some “conservatives” were involved in the making of the film, and second, because they did not want to offend those who mean to exterminate us.

That twisted rationale leads to the next concern of my readers and callers. That being that as the far-left labors day and night to ensure that the millions of immigrants pouring into our nation – illegal and legal – don’t assimilate, that they guarantee the balkanization of what used to be the United States.

Time and history have proven that the fate of multiethnic, multicultural countries is certain. They break-up and revolve around the gravitational pull of their native language, culture, and ideology.

As Democrat and Republican politicians eagerly chase money and power at the expense of ethics, spirituality, and national security, they have become equal co-conspirators in the destruction of our nation from within.

If you agree with this assessment, then how – short of the revolution I start in my novel – can we save the United States from its rapidly approaching demise? Myself and tens of millions of Americans, anxiously await your answer.

I don’t see where Duncan Hunter is a bad communicator. He is direct and doesn’t mince words. Personally that’s what I like. I just want facts, don’t bore with all the other nonsense. As far as his intensity goes, we are totally screwed right now, he knows the deal. It’s hard to be lighthearted and funny with so much on the line.

When the U.S. Senate refused to even consider or look at evidence in the bjc impeachment trial, and the American people sat by and let it pass, I realized that it’s all over but the cryin’ for this country.

Everything - and I mean everything - has devolved into naked self-interest. I have never seen a people so obsessed with money in my life - it gets worse every day. Of course, the funny thing is that the money is intrinsically worthless without big government; and big government has no power except as conveyed by their green IOU’s.

The solution? I wish I knew, for my granchildren’s sake.

After I posted my comment, I read post #14. I suggest that everybody on this thread read and ponder what that writer said.

I recall that God’s word says,

“If MY PEOPLE, who are called by MY NAME, will

1. HUMBLE themselves

and

2. CALL ON MY NAME,

I will HEAL this land....”

Amen!!!

"The key phrase at the beginning was’western culture’. What does that mean? Skin color has somthing to do with it. It can’t document this, but Savage said 93% of everything ever invented was invented by a light skin color."

I suspect the key to understanding this in that 7% of everything invented that was NOT invented by someone of light skin. You'll find a common Judeo-Christian culture, work ethic and value system is prevalent in THAT 7%

So, it's not necessarily a race based thing... although you can make it that with these statistics.

It IS however a cultural thing and the culture that used to thrive (and likely still will) is the one most "light skinned" people of the U.S. and Europe were raised under (even if many no longer espouse those values)

IMHO of course
Cheers,
Lloyd

I’ve always contended that the way to take back America is for conservatives to take over local governments.

The head (federal government) can’t function without the body (local government).

This was the model used by the founders with their Sons of Liberty councils on local levels and their pamphlet campaigns in local communities. When that local strength reached a certain level, the founders succsssfully took on the British crown and won.

I challenge those of you who enjoy the deductive following of a thread all the way to its end: Who is coordinating this very effective dismantelling of America?

Don’t stop at Moscow; go on to the source.

Hint: it’s the same source that promoted America’s Civil War.

When my son was in elementary school they had a multicultural day. They had to write a paper about what their nationality was. My son asked what he was, I told him American. He said no, what am I? I told him American, you are an American. We went back and forth with it, I said if the teacher has a problem with the fact you are American, have her call me. When they had their multicultural day there were a number of kids who said they were American. If you want to trace my family tree, yes I have ancestors from Italy and Poland, I would never consider myself either. I am American and thats it. It doesnt’ matter what my last name is, what color my hair is, I was born here and I speak English. I believe in freedom and liberty. I am proud of our “culture”, I like the fact that America and Americans are somewhat considered roughnecks. Even though our culture is not centuries old as far as arts and architecture goes, I don’t really care. I live in a country that was founded on freedom. A country where in 2 centuries became a beacon for people. A country where in a very, very short period of time, surpassed all other countries as far as quality of life goes. Do I believe all cultures and countries are equal? Hell no! It literally makes me ill when I look at the direction my country is going in. At the rate things are going my children will be fighting for survival in this country. I have 3 boys, they are truly going to be in for it. They will have to work their butts off the support all the 3rd world imports and be taxed to death to support all of the socialist programs that are surely coming. They will probably have to go to war, a war that I was totally behind until I saw how it was being fought politically correct. I look at a goverment that has become the enemy. A goverment infiltrated by liberals who basically stand for nothing, they won’t fight for anything because they hold nothing beyond power sacred. It’s time for a big time change.

Here is a list of the key staff contacts of the “Amnesty 8” Senators (plus Domenici) that are most likely to be persuaded to vote no on Thursday and derail amnesty. Many offices are putting calls straight to voicemail and they can just trash faxes (and letters take weeks to get through due to security). Hit Hill staff where they are so codependent - their Blackberries! Send email directly to staff - not just the generic Senate office mailbox. Contact their Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Press Secretary. Make your voice heard!!

For the Democrats, I would strongly suggest taking a pro-union/anti-illegal alien stance (i.e. “they are taking our jobs”) rather than using the conservative national security angle.

If you agree with this assessment, then how – short of the revolution I start in my novel – can we save the United States from its rapidly approaching demise? Myself and tens of millions of Americans, anxiously await your answer.

The citizens of this country still have the ability to "save the republic" without resorting to revolution -- the question is do sufficient numbers of us have the will to do it? It will take organizing a mass political movement to reassert our willingness to fight for our right to govern ourselves. What we lack and desperately need is leadership.

We have been trained by our political elites for the past 50 years to be customers not citizens and have generally restricted our personal political activity to voting for one of the two candidates thrown up by the two parties. The mass of welfare and entitlement programs as well as the huge government bureaucracy that employs an increasing number of Americans have served to turn self-governing citizens into supplicants at the public trough and has caused Americans to waste their political energy fighting each other for more handouts rather than as citizens deciding together on what in the common interest. What we see now on the political scene -- an unresponsive ruling elite that arrogantly imposes its will on us in defiance of our democratically enacted laws -- is the consequence of this dynamic of our abdicating our roles as self-governing citizens.

The mission is nothing less than restoring republican self-governance and we cannot wait for leadership to arise from one of the two existing parties. That simply will not do anymore. The two parties are themselves the problem. They have combined with business and media elites to impose their own elite policies on us against our will and despite our democratically enacted laws. We will have to generate our own political leaders who will both educate the citizenry about what is at stake -- the loss of our freedom to govern ourselves -- while building a political movement that will challenge the elites’ project of arbitrary rule. Given the bipartisan dissatisfaction with how this immigration policy is being forced upon us against our will, Americans are particularly receptive to this message now.

So the answer to the question is “we the people” have to generate a political movement that first understands what is at stake (republican self-governance) , is able and willing to explain this to the American citizenry, and which mounts a political challenge at the ballot box to the existing two parties. This can happen either as a third party movement or as an effort to take over one of the existing parties and change its priorities and goals to restoring republican self-governance.

In the longer term, we will have to scale back the massive welfare state because it is incompatible with a free people governing themselves. In today’s parlance we cannot outsource the provision of all our needs to an overweening and dictatorial government and expect to maintain the independence of mind and character traits that are recognized as necessary for a people to remain free and self-governing. Are we up to this? I really don’t know but I do believe we have a better prospect for resurrecting the ideals of our founding -- the sovereignty of the people -- than perhaps any other nation on earth. This ancient faith of free and self-governing citizens is in our institutional memory as a people, ready to be awakened. We have the constitutional tools and there is nothing to prevent us from creating a political movement that could turn over the membership of the entire House of Representatives in less than two years.

The first task, correctly identifying the problem and what is at stake as the loss of republican self-governance has been made abundantly clear by the behavior of our President and other ruling elites in this immigration debate. The ball is now in our corner as a people. The next task is to generate the national leadership -- a modern day Jefferson or Madison -- who will lead a movement to sound the alarm and provide an alternative, a real challenge, to the death grip the existing two parties and their friends in the business and media aristocracy have on our political and everyday life. We have to quit focusing our power of the vote merely on who will be the lesser of two evils in the next election but on preserving the very ability to have any say at all in what is happening to us as people.

“The American dream began dying when President Roosevelt started the U.S. on the road to socialism.

It will probably take a President to initiate a broad legislative agenda to undo all of what FDR wrought.

It won’t be without political bloodshed. But if back by people like you and me, in suffcient numbers, the struggle will eventually come out in our favor.

Three things would go a LONG way IMHO! They are:

1. Repeal the 17th amendment to the constitution and restore the balance the founders had so carefully constructed between the states and directly elected representatives of the people.

2. Throw the communist inspired income tax system we currently suffer onto the ash heap of history - where it so properly belongs - and go to a system more in keeping with what the founders intended.

3. Repeal the 16th amendment to prevent any such tax system from ever being considered again.
