I strongly suggest that each of us contact our Senators who voted Nay and thank them. (If they voted Yea, then complain.) I thanked one of mine for voting against this, for listening to his constituents, and for doing the right thing. I need to find the email for the other and will send him a similar thanks.

And thanks to all FReepers (and others) who contacted their Senators to voice their concern on this issue. Way to go, FReepers!

It’ll keep coming back like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. Bush will insist on it.

This bill lost inspite of Bush, who was allegedly calling GOP senators this very morning to pressure them to support Kennedy’s bill.

See you at the signing, eh? /sarc

Not really dead yet.

It was reported last week Bush may attempt to incorporate elements of the amnesty bill into other bills. We need to keep the pressure on the politicians by demanding current immigration laws be strictly enforced. Including building the fence.

This bill might or might not be dead. The best way to put a stake through its heart however is to take away the bargaining chip of the open border shamnesty traitors by building the FENCE without delay.

We've played defense long enough --- it is time now to go on the offense and make those Senatorial phones ring ad nauseum until the FENCE is built. No more words or promises or compromises or bogus legislation. We want action along the border and action NOW.

Boxer, Fineswine, the Clintoons, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry and other left wing fascists in Congress will now try to silence Rush, Hannity, Anne and Free Republic in the dark corridors of the capitol.

They need to remember what happened to the Italian Fascists, who gained power before WWII at their end of WWII.

Webb and the other democrats who voted against cloture were only following the general direction of the unions, headed by the AFL-CIO. That is why you saw Senators such as Harkin, Landrieu, Byrd, Rockefeller, Pryor and Stabenow vote against cloture. The final tally was really the result of pressure from left and right, by ordinary blue and white collar workers who opposed the party elites, supported by Chamber of Commerce and big businesses, who pushed the amnesty and guest worker portions of the bill that would affect wage levels in the negative around the country. Those factors and an aversion of ordinary Americans to giving a free pass to legalization for illegal aliens after breaking our laws drove the final vote.

We haven’t won anything. The ILLEGALS are still here and coming over by the thousands each day. The fence isn’t gonna be built, and we are still gonna have to give them free health care, free schooling, free housing, etc, etc, etc, etc.

We need to stay on the offense as aggressively as we have done by pressuring the politicians to strictly enforce our existing immigration laws, including deporting all illegal aliens, building the fence and prosecuting companies who do business with illegals.

I have met one who was deported during the Eisenhower administration. He was an anchor baby, born in this country to Mexican parents who worked as braceros in Texas.

Eisenhower had no problem deporting these Mexicans who were here legally and with their citizen children.

As he had citizenship, he returned to the US as an adult.

During the Prop 187 campaign (early 1990s) which would have denied services to those here illegally, including education, he told me he voted for it, as the massive number of illegal aliens here were destroying opportunities for his own children.

“Temporary victory.

The Left won’t fight for victory in Iraq but they will fight for victory in the Congress.”

I have to agree, weegee, WE know how this works, we have been living it for years on our state level. We MUST stay on our toes.

Thanks for posting the Roll Call, I appreciate it. No surprise my Senators (Feingold & Kohl) voted Yea... I didn’t expect a different result from them, but it would’ve been nice had they actually realized that from their POV this bill would have been a disaster for the middle class they talk about loving so much!

Does anyone else think that 6-year terms for Senators is a bit too long??? I would be a lot happier with 4-year terms such as the house frankly... Not enough of a say in their job performance at 6-year intervals, IMHO...

whichever candidate comes out for what you say, will win the Presidency. This is a defining moment in history. We need to keep the heat on and rise up against this illegal horde. We do NOT want our country destroyed !! I pray that whomever the Rep nominee is, that he is openly states the goals you listed. I would like to see business owners with minimum of 30 years and confiscation of all assets. We need to be brutal against all those who facilitate this destruction of our Republic.

“They wised up. Good thing. Now, let’s close the DAMN BORDERS and get bills out there to do it!!!”

We already had bills pass unanimously, signed by the President, as a mandate, and the money appropriated, as well as all environmental objections waived, to build the double fence. It is already LAW! They need to enact THAT law, now!

A few minutes between meetings. Amnesty? We don’t need no stinkin’ amnesty. Congratulations everyone, celebrate today, tonight, and, why not, the weekend awaits. Some great Supreme Court rulings too. Excellent. See God Ki.
