““Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton, and I would hate to see them gain an ounce of credibility by being forced by a government agency or anybody else to moderate their views enough that they might become modestly influential or respected.”

I think it’s just possible that Rush Limbaugh saved America these past few weeks, by his passionate and articulate explanation of just WHY the immigration bill sucked. In any event, he’s certainly done more for our country than ANY of those feeble-minded jerks on Capitol hill.

If you replaced Obey with Paris Hilton, no one outside of Congress would notice the difference.

Don't be so sure... She might even be an improvement over Obey, and THAT *would* be noticed...

Sen. George Voinovich was quoted as saying, “Fairness what?”

I think Sen. Voinovich was the inspiration for Grandpa Simpson...

“We ought to let right-wing talk radio go on as they do now,” he said. “Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton.......”

Defeat of anmesty today says otherwise. IMO, Dems just don't want to hand conservatives a big issue in 2008 when they assume bush would VETO it. At least the House Dems don't. The 6 year termed Senators on both aisles are another animal altogether. Trent and Mccain would love to silence us much as Hillary and kennedy.

They is running ascared!

This is what our decisive win on the immigration issue has accomplished. They want to muzzle talk radio, but THEY DON'T DARE.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said on Tuesday that the government should revive the Fairness Doctrine

Of course Dick believes the government should regulate free speech, a very Nazi-like attitude. Oops... :)

I’m surprised the House acted today on this.

Cut off the head and the body will die! That's what happened today.

As VRWCmember put it:

Rush was certainly critical. Rush, Sean, laura, mark, Boortz, the blgs, this board, Sessions, DeMint and the other fine conservatives in the Senate AND House, Dorgan, McCaskill and several critical dem freshman deserve kudos, Dobbs, Kaus, Heritage foundation and the list is just too numerous. heck, throw in some of the unions. In the end it came down to the American people vs the elites and Americans saved their republic, for the moment, today.

And that’s the way it had to be. the american people were the only ones with the power to stop it, and they did.

"3 losses for the rats today, fairness, cheney funding and amnesty, being a majority sucks haha"

4! The Supremes overturned race-based public school districting - a monstrosity that took 35 years to end.

Socializing the radio industry,BRILLIANT equal time for liberal nonsense that know one is interested in and more importantly is non revenue generation. When are they going to wake up, this is capitolism baby not socialism, stop trying to change America WE DON’T WANT IT! IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, pick A SOCIALISTIC COUNTRY! lord knows there are plenty to choose from. You won’t last a minute, because they won’t stand for your non sense! Learn to appreciate what you have here instead of trying to change it for the worst.

“What role did Paris play in today’s Senate Cloture vote?”

She will now have to clean her own room.

“Maybe the next time the Republicans control Congress, the Dems will think twice before prefacing their stupid policy proposals with the words “The American people want...”.”

Maybe next time the republicans gain control they will actually act CONSERVATIVE. There are a whole lotta gubmint agencies just beggin’ to be shut down.

We won these battles not by insulting people.

We didn’t throw pies at anyone.

We didn’t deface the Capitol.

We didn’t hold signs containing vulgarity in proximity of childen.

We didn’t disrupt speeches.

I’m VERY proud of conservatives today.

“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” he said (Durbin). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”

Yep, and the decision would probably ensure that the Demonrats would never again control either the White House or congress. I really don't think this fool thinks these things all the way through.
