The President today officially nominated Adm. Michael Mullen, to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Gen. James Cartwright to Joint Chiefs Vice Chairman.
The President then travelled to the Naval War College in Newport, RI and delievered a speech on Iraq and made a statement on the Senate immigration bill to the press.
The President then went to the family compound on Walker's Point in Kennebunkport, Maine for a long weekend. Later this weekend, his father, former President George H.W. Bush and the current President are scheduled to host Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Today the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with South Korea's Foreign Minister Song Min-soon at the State Department.
Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna are in Zambia today .

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, all. Please be seated. Thanks for the warm welcome. Thanks, Governor; appreciate you -- go find a nice seat. (Laughter.) I am really pleased to be among the best and brightest of the United States military. (Applause.) And I am pleased to see the many here who represent nations from around the world. Thanks for coming by. (Laughter.) Those who go to school here are at a great place. We actually have some things in common. We went to school in New England. (Laughter.) We pursued advanced degrees. And we compiled outstanding academic records. (Laughter.) Well, two out of three. (Laughter and applause.)
The Naval War College is where the United States military does some of its finest thinking. You help the Navy define its mission. You support its combat readiness. You strengthen our maritime security cooperation with other countries. You train officers to think strategically. And that's important. The United States Navy is the most professional and advanced navy the world has ever seen -- and the men and women of the Naval War College are determined to keep it that way, and I appreciate your work.
Yesterday I went to a mosque -- Islamic Center in Washington, D.C. It's the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Center. It was a place where Dwight Eisenhower went to dedicate, and I went to rededicate it. And my message was, one, freedom is a beautiful thing, and that we expect societies to work toward freedom, and we want to do that. And at the same time, we honor all religion. That's what we do in America. And it is really meant to counter this notion that somehow America is in war against Islam. We're not. We're at war against killers who subvert a great religion in order to achieve their political objectives. And we'll keep working as hard as we can.
Anyway, great question. Look, I've got to go. I thank you all for coming by. God bless. (Applause.)

I sure could use lots of that right now. With this torn rotator cuff on the same arm, I could use some TLC. I had PT yesterday and when I got up today, I could barely move my arm plus I have numbness in my “pointer” finger and that does not help matters. We leave Tuesday morning for Seattle. My house is a disaster but I am not going to do anything that will do more damage to this area before our trip. Will have to have surgery on it after we get back. So, I am not looking forward to that at all! Maybe my angels will clean house for me while we are gone. My grandson is already out there and granddaughter leaves Sunday morning and we leave early Tuesday morning. We go from here to Memphis, then to Detroit and then to Seattle. BTW, this is the same arm I had surgery on in Aug. 2005.

I have a suggestion can I ask people not to mention freepers that are making disparaging comments regarding the President on other threads on this thread IMHO it is encouraging them to visit this thread and disrupt it.
If we do not mention what they are saying on other threads here I feel it does not give them any sort of legitimate reason for disrupting this thread.
It also gives us the moral upper hand if we do not employ the same tactics that we are complaining about.
