I would like to think that we will build a fence across the entire border but truth is it will be done begrudgingly a mile at a time.

If any real immigration reform is done it will happen city by city, state by state and all at the local level by locals fed up with the ineptitude of the Feds.

Our next candidate(hopefully Fred or Duncan)will be helpful only in keeping the rats in check as they try and pass one amnesty bill after another.

How about backing Our Brave Border Guards and freeing the ones like Ramos and Corpeon, serving 12 years on the word of a Drug Dealer who was treatening them and Our U.S Attorney hid the fact from the Jury tha this witness had just been busted a second time with 1 million dollars of Weed, This is a travesty of Justice!!!!!

“We will be back,” she said.

When? How soon? Would a Democratic President have done any better under the same circumstances?

Glenn Reynolds over at instapundit.com had this to say to the President and congress.

My advice for next time:

(1) Make the process open, transparent, and timely, with hearings, drafts on the Internet, and no last-minute bills that no one has read;

(2) Earn people’s trust, don’t demand it, and treat enforcement like it matters;

(3) Respect people who follow the law, and make legal immigration easier, cheaper, and simpler, rather than the Kafkaesque nightmare it is now;

(4) Don’t feel you have to be “comprehensive” — address the problems you can deal with first. The trust needed to deal with other problems will come later, after you’ve shown some success and some good faith.

Compromise Bill?

Compromising the American people is more of what it is like.

“You can’t stop the march for progress in the United States,” he said.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. - C. S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis said it MUCH better...

Here is a link to a good summation of the victory over amnesty over on National Review Online. I can’t post the article per the instructions of the syndicate that carries the author’s(Rich Lowry) collumn.

I don’t think the elitists wok up at all. They are just going to shove it down our throats in smaller doses.

After thinking it over for the past year, today I re-registered as an Independent. I was a registered Republican for 26 years. But the party left me. And I do mean left.

As it now exists, the Republican party is too liberal for me.

Stay gone, Dianne, maybe a cross would help.

No, it won't affect Mrs. Feinstein.

Bring it on! The sleeping giant is now awake, and with FR and other conservative blogs, and talkradio, standing watch, we have just begun to fight! Hmmm, where have I heard that before?

“The president has said the last time a sweeping immigration bill was enacted, in 1986, the law failed because it did not secure U.S. borders, did not create a reliable system for employers to verify the legal status of their workers and encouraged more people to come to America illegally.”

Well let’s just fix these failures and go on from there!!! That would be a good start to get Americans to support immigration reform.
