McCain denies dropping out of White House bid

McCain is trailing Rudy Giuliani by about 10 percentage points
Senator John McCain, once the Republican front-runner for the White House, has been forced to deny rumours that he is poised to drop out of the race because he is struggling to raise funds.
"That's ridiculous," he snapped back at reporters on Capitol Hill who asked whether he was about to abandon his presidential ambitions. "Why in the world would I want to do that? It would be nuts."
But Mr McCain's campaign acknowledged his difficulties in raising money. He was third among the Republican 2008 contenders after the first three months of the year with £6.2 million and is expected to fall well short of that for the second quarter.
Many conservatives were angered by his support for an immigration reform bill that they considered offered an amnesty to illegal immigrants. The former Vietnam prisoner of war's hawkish stance on the unpopular Iraq conflict has also damaged him.
Polls show Mr McCain trailing Rudy Giuliani by about 10 percentage points among Republican candidates. Several polls have shown him behind Fred Thompson, the former Tennessee senator who has not even declared his candidacy yet.
Mr McCain is also finding it difficult to compete with Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, in the key battleground state of Iowa. Mr Romney's strength in the early caucus state has prompted Mr McCain and Mr Giuliani to pull out of a straw poll event in August.
Senator Hillary Clinton remains the clear Democratic favourite but her campaign strategists have said that her rival, Barack Obama, will surpass her second-quarter total of £13.5 million.
Mr Obama is expected to announce that he has received donations from more than 250,000 people. That broad base of support and a fundraising total of over £25 million in the first half of 2007 underline the potency of the Illinois senator's campaign.
My choices:
1. Duncan Hunter
2. Fred Thompson
3. Mitt Romney
"It would be NUTS to drop out now, with the MSM and the DNC strongly behind me."
duncan is the right person for the job
Maybe because you have a ZERO chance of winning.
Dennis Kucinich has a better shot after that amnesty fiasco.
His rich wife needs to stop his cash flow. She should ask Terayza Kerry if it was worth all the money she squandered on her John’s fantasy of being Pres.
Certainly he would deny it. There are a few more suckers to get campaign extortions - er- donations from before he is voted out of office. Ain't much time left McCain - make it rain, make it rain, make it rain.
It will take a team of wild horses to drag McCain out of the race.
Amen!
This (liberal ?) international writer acknowledges that McClaim’s support (writing !) of the immigration bill was a factor in his loss of support, but also claims that his ONLY strong point (Iraq War) is a negative!
“McCain is nuts!”
And...............
DELUSIONAL
Said it bEFORE and will REPEAT:
I WOULDN’T VOTE FOR McCAIN IF HE WERE RUNNING FOR DOG-CATCHER AND MY COUNTY WAS OVERRUN WITH CHIHUAHUAS.
BYE, BYE JOHN-BOY!
“Were grateful to you Mr McCain for your brave service in the Navy but youre at the end of the road.Politically you have no friends left.Take your Senate/Navy pension and live the rest of your life comfortably and quietly.”
That is what I would say also. And I would wish him well as I don’t believe his health is really good. He needs to retire and take care of himself emotionally and physically.
Maybe so, but when you have to deny this kind of rumor forcibly and in public, it means the fat lady is warming up. True or false, this rumor is a very bad development for McCain.
True. Now, how many times will it take to be asked if he's dropping out for him to have a total meltdown?
McCain should drop out of the race since he has lost the support of us conservatives for supporting amnesty. My support is also for Duncan Hunter.
