The demise of amnesty means government OF, BY and FOR the people prevailed. This is a victory for Democracy-----all is well in the Republic. The Framers would be proud.

Course illegal invaders and border-crossers arrogantly assumed they were in control of OUR government, that they would prevail, and that they and their hyphenated groups would takeover OUR country.

Everyone connected with this atrocity had better sit up and take notice----including RNC chair Mel Martinez, Teddy Kennedy, Lindsey Graham, the gov't of Mexico and the rest of the hyphenated Mexican groups who signed on to undermining the sovereignity of the United States of America, and jeopardized its legal citizens.

Aye... and I think they would be frequent visitors to FreeRepublic as well... if not longstanding members.

Haha, I can just see the liberals crying out to everyone “PLEASE DON’T LISTEN TO RUSH OMG PLEASE! He’s...he’s j-just an....ENTERTAINER!”

They just can’t stand an opposing view to them.

Go Rush.

>> The demise of amnesty means government OF, BY and FOR the people prevailed

Right. 60% - 70% of The People were against shamnesty.

For that reason, it’s going to be tough to tar and feather any scapegoat. It won’t get traction on this issue.

Of course, there’s plenty of OTHER stuff for the Libs to try and scapegoat Rush & eeevil talk radio for...

“including RNC chair Mel Martinez”

He hasn’t learned a single thing — He still thinks that he was elected, not to represent the voters of Florida, but to “improve the lives” of illegal immigrants.

This clown needs to be introduced to the unemployment line, he won’t face reality on his own.

I was laughing at the Democrat (Obey) yesterday who said that Rush was just as important as Paris Hilton.

I was thinking yeah, you wish. Rush has given the Dems headaches more than once.

I am not so sure the liberals really expect to win on the unfairness doctrine. I think they just want to repeat to the public over and over that talk radio is biased and unfair. They want to weaken trust in conservative sources just like they have tried to do with Fox News. We should be sure we the public is reminded repeatedly which sources are biased in favor of the left (that very very long list) and then fine. Let everyone consider their sources. ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and CNN are all arms of the Democrat Party. As is nearly every major newspaper and NPR. Repeat it often so people can consider the source.

Wow! Don't hurt your arm patting us on the back!

ALL IS NOT well in the Republic?!?!?!

Hello? We still have 20 million illegals and more every day. How are we going to get the exucutive office to enforce the border?

Stopping a bad bill in congress is good, but it was a choice between bad and worse, and so now we just have the same bad situation we've had since 1964, 1986 etc.

Scapegoating is correct. Both Parties must now go to their heavy contributors and do some 'splainin'. They have to have something to blame it on to keep that money flooding in.

The plan was perfect. Party leaders announce that a "comprehensive" solution has been worked out. The MSM extols the bipartisan accomplishment! All is as it should be.

Yes, a perfect plan -- a generation ago when the "Fairness Doctrine" restrictions made the MSM the gatekeepers of news and issues.

Now maybe those old guys in Washington get it.

We have a republican form of government and free speech and free press are back. Boy are they pissed and vow revenge.

What could be more “fair” than a citizen choosing to listen to what he wants to on the radio? If liberal talk isn’t there it’s because it has no value to consumers of radio. It has no value because the liberal viewpoint is carried by every wavelength emitted by every other broadcast medium. Liberal talk radio would be a duplication, and therefore unnecessary in the marketplace, let alone to serve the purpose of achieving “fairness”.

First off, if it weren’t for talk radio, how many would be uninformed about the shamnesty that was the Z visa? The MSM certainly wasn’t talking about it nor were the politicians involved except after the cat was out of the bag to defend the Z visa by saying that the amnesty wasn’t amnesty and that was the total extent of the explanation.

Secondly, the Morning Call here in PA had a front page article stating that “right wing talk radio listeners” were to blame for the bill’s death. This is a left leaning newspaper and the letters to the editor, which are normally overly left leaning and Bush bashing, were all opposed to the bill and vehemently for enforcing our current laws on the books. The only parts of the paper that were for it would be columns and editorials which no matter how the paper tried to sell it were all met with more opposition letters to the editor.

Talk radio may have got the ball rolling, but after the cat was out of the bag, it was the entire citizenry that was opposed to and killed this bill.
