For those who do not get it, let me make this clear. The office of the President of the United States is a dual one. The person who fills the office is both our nation's chief executive and our nation's ceremonial head of state.

The DITL threads (affectionately called the Dose), are mostly social threads. They respect our nation's presidency and its current occupant.

Rational adults are capable of holding more than one thought in their heads at one time. They can have policy disagreements with the president as chief executive while at the same time respecting the man, the office and the president as head of state.

All rational adults are welcome to this thread.

Pinging you to today’s Dose. I’m posting the fishing pics early. Right now there are no photos of Putin and GWB up on Yahoo. I will check back later and post any that show up later today.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Barbara reels in a fish while her dad watches. Note the Scottie on the President's cap. :)

Barbara, who looks like an expert angler, wears a "43" cap.

Here's the fish Barbara caught. Proud dad unhooks it for her.

The President caught the smaller of these two striped bass. His daughter caught the bigger one. :)

GWB holds up a fish he caught. (I love the Scottie cap.)

The President doffs his Scottie cap to well-wishers on shore.

President Bush reels in his catch as Barbara and fishing guide, Billy Bush, look on yesterday.

Barbara and dad indicate how many fish they caught.

GWB, Barbara, and her granddad cruise away from Mother's Beach after a fishing trip Saturday. (Note the 43 and 41 on the men's windbreakers.)

Sigh...doesn't it look so refreshing to be out on that ocean?

The president acknowledges well-wishers as Fidelity III cruises (and sometimes zips) along the Maine shore.

Heavy security is never very far away, considering the times in which we live.

Driving Fidelity, the President pulled up to the Coast Guard cutter to ackowledge the Coasties and say thanks.

This morning, the President fished with his dad. Here he sits on the bow of Fidelity III.

The First Fisherman watches as fishing guide, Billy Bush, tries to pull up the stuck anchor this morning.

Divers pull up Fidelity III's anchor after it became stuck during this morning's fishing trip.

First lady Laura Bush returned from Africa today. Here are a couple of photos with Jenna take toward the end of their trip. They were welcomed by schoolchildren as they arrived at Nelson Mandela school in Bamako, June 29, 2007.

So you respected Clinton as a man despite his many malfeasance, and his holding the office of POTUS, but just disagreed with his policies?

Grow up.

Pretty Cool. Dad and daughter fishing, and at least they caught a couple.
