That’s pretty astonishing for Ron Paul.
And for Rooty — ouch.
Run Fred Run.

Somehow, I doubt any poll that puts Giuliani at 7% in liberal California behind both Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo. Just who is this California Republican Assembly? Is that the CA House caucus for the GOP or something?

CRA, the state’s oldest and largest Republican volunteer organization, conducted the straw poll as part of a weekend convention that featured appearances by Presidential candidates Duncan Hunter and Congressman Ron Paul.

Other speakers included Senator Tom McClintock, Congressmen Gary Miller and Ed Royce, Assemblymen Bob Huff, Bill Emmerson and Chuck DeVore, and Joe Loya, father-in-law of Border Agent Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos.

In convention business, the CRA delegates re-elected Mike Spence to serve as President for two more years, as well as electing a new board of directors.
This is the Old Right Republican coalition in CA, I think. Didn't we have a few articles a while back on them? I think some of their leadership was endorsing Ron Paul a few months back.

One of the best parts of this poll is that McStain wasn’t included at all. LOL.

Lets see.....

A guy not running, yet, officially wins the straw poll w 25%.

The leading money-raiser gets 19%, tying a Cal native w no money.

Rudee trailed Ron Paul....although the media was quick to criticize Paul for his remark directed at Rudee.

Oh, and Mr Tancredo finished ahead of Rudee.....The Tanc has raised, what, 1/50th the money Rudee has.

Maybe it is time for the media to pay less attention to “their favorites” and more to the party favorites

Well that explains how 12% knew who Ron Paul was ... he was there.

This poll is skewed, somewhat, by Paul and Hunter making personal appearences at the conference ... I wouldn’t put too much stock in it.

Ron Paul? Is that the guy who donated to Hitlery? Or Peter Paul’s brother? Or a libertarian wannabe but never will be?

A huff? Oh, dear. Well, at least you didn't throw a hissy fit. LOL.

I think CRA still had influence during the Reagan years but the CA GOP is so liberal, they are a small voting bloc these days. I would guess they are stronger in northern and rural CA.

The national Republican Assembly will have a nominating convention in August. This is a run-up to that, as each state will be sending delegates, and CA is the biggest delegation...

I find it good news indeed that my 3 favorite candidates, Romney, Thompson and Hunter are out front, and the 2 least favorite candidates - Rudy and McCain - are nowhere.
