Sudan accuses Sarkozy of ’riding American wave’

Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir on Sunday accused his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy of "riding the American wave" by turning his back on the "pro-Arab" stance of his predecessor.

"Nicolas Sarkozy’s France has different orientations to that of Jacques Chirac," Beshir told reporters. "With Chirac’s departure, the Arabs have lost a loyal friend."

He said Sarkozy, who made dealing with the crisis in Darfur a priority after taking over from Chirac in May, was "riding the American wave", in reference to a French-sponsored international conference in June aimed at ending the violence in the western Sudanese region.

At the conference, France, the United States, Khartoum-ally China and 15 other nations agreed to redouble efforts to end bloodshed in Darfur by supporting a new peace force and negotiations on a settlement.

But Khartoum rejected the conference saying it was a distraction to ongoing peace efforts by the United Nations and the African Union.

President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan plays the "American card" against Sarko now that the French president is leading the attempt to speed up the implementation of a UN-AU peacekeeping force in Darfur.

If France declares that genocide is occurring (like the US government has) this will be a significant blow to the Darfur genocide deniers. If I were al-Beshir I wouldn't be antagonizing Sarkozy. Once France declares it genocide, the rest of the EU will follow, and then probably the UN. al-Beshir will find few tyrants willing to protect him after that.

Maybe Sarko realizes what they did to his country. Just my humble opinion that he wants to put an end to the riots and take his country back.

Perhaps Omar heard about all the people trying to get into America, legally or otherwise, and figured out this isn’t such a bad place after all.

Now how many of his Moslem brothers did he kill in Darfur today?

Yes, indeed! It is a great moment in human history, when France no longer has a President who grovels before terrorist regimes and kisses up to the dregs of humanity in the form of tyrannical and depraved terror-loving scumbags. Let's hope that Sarko does not get worn down or corralled by all the quisling jihad lovers in the EU....
