Reid: Bush's Commutation of Libby's Prison Sentence Endorses Administration's Culture of Corruption
Washington, DC — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today after President Bush commuted the prison sentence of former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby for obstruction of justice:
“The President's decision to commute Mr. Libby’s sentence is disgraceful. Libby’s conviction was the one faint glimmer of accountability for White House efforts to manipulate intelligence and silence critics of the Iraq War. Now, even that small bit of justice has been undone. Judge Walton correctly determined that Libby deserved to be imprisoned for lying about a matter of national security. The Constitution gives President Bush the power to commute sentences, but history will judge him harshly for using that power to benefit his own Vice President’s Chief of Staff who was convicted of such a serious violation of law.”

Well, when Jefferson steps down while under indictment I’ll listen to what Harry has to say about corruption.
The President did a good thing. Now how about Compean and Ramos? If it is such a horrible thing for a soft insider bureaucrat like Libby to be unjustly imprisoned it is time to demand the President step up and show us he is committed to the border patrol agents and our military men and women who are being railroaded.
Harry Reid is a vindictive little punk. A president with any self-respect would call him that to his face, then say it in public.
I am sure Hillary must be “enjoying” this latest contretemps over Presidential pardons—not. The comparison of the Libby pardon to those granted by her husband can’t be welcome news. Let’s see how the MSM handles it along with her primary opponents.
Democrat Leadership on Bush: Bush commutes an innocent man so he can continue his appeal process outside of prison, while retaining the conviction and the fine. Bush is corrupt.Democrat Leadership on Clinton: Clinton PARDONS known, convicted terrorists. Freeing them from a just sentence for their crimes. Clinton is a hero.
