CNN Pollster Vinod Gupta donates $14,250 to Democratic National Committee (DNC)
Federal Election Commission ^ | July 3, 2007

The latest report from the Federal Election Commission shows that CNN pollster Vinod Gupta donated $14,250 to the Democratic National Committee in May. Here is Gupta's list of donations for the 2008 election cycle -

3 . Gupta, Vinod
2/20/2007 $1,000.00
Omaha, NE 68127
infoUSA Inc./Chairman/CEO [Contribution]
HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE INC.

4 . Gupta, Vinod
5/18/2007 $14,250.00
Omaha, NE 68127
infoUSA/CEO [Contribution]
DNC SERVICES CORPORATION/DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE

5 . Gupta, Vinod
2/27/2007 $10,000.00
Omaha, NE 68127
Info USA/Chairman [Contribution]
DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE

With Hillary's biggest supporter running the presidential polls at CNN, and his declaration that "she'll be our next president" long before the actual election, it is no surprise that the CNN poll is rigged to benefit her campaign.

Interesting post.

I’d hope that CNN would ask Mr Gupta to step aside (from future polling) after this.

No matter how CNN or Mr Gupta spin this, his contributions really call into question his ability to poll in an objective manner.

In January of 2002, Bill and Hillary Clinton (and others) took a vacation in Acapulco, Mexico. They traveled on Gupta’s private company plane. According to court records, InfoUSA paid $146,866 for the excursion.

From 2002 through 2006, InfoUSA paid Bill Clinton over $2 million as a consultant. They spent $900,000 to fly him around the world for his presidential foundation work and to fly Hillary Clinton to campaign events.

.....after Ms. Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker of the House, her son Paul Pelosi Jr. was hired by InfoUSA as its Vice President for Strategic Planning, at a salary of $180,000 per year.

And to make it convenient for Paul Pelosi Jr. to strategically plan things for InfoUSA, he is able to remain at his full-time job as a mortgage officer for Countrywide Loans in California. Unlike all the other employees at InfoUSA, he does not have to report to work at the company’s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

When I came home from work yesterday afternoon, having heard on the radio about Scooter’s commutation, I turned on CNN. They had a CNN strategist on the phone for 20 minutes about “abuses of power” and “lack of respect of law”.

Small wonder they are losing (badly) in the Cable News race.

CNN will keep him. Zogby almost stole the 2000 election for Democrats by telling the public that it was a done deal on election day, Gore had already won before the polls closed.

Why vote when your side has “already lost”?

Is Gupta actually a paid CNN employee?

I know that recently a lot of newspapers have been implementing policies banning their employees from making any political contributions, but I'm not sure if CNN has adopted this policy or not.

I dare anyone to tell me that these donations don’t mean the media marmadons don’t have a vested interested in the outcome of elections.

According to an article last week - "Donations and other political activity are strictly forbidden at The Washington Post, ABC, CBS, CNN and NPR."

But Gupta is not directly employed by CNN. Instead, he controls Opinion Research Corp., which is in a "formal polling partnership" with CNN for the 2008 presidential race, so this loophole allows Gupta to make huge donations to his favorite politicians without any disclosures during reports of CNN Poll results.

CNN claims to impose strong rules on their employees, but apparently does not forbid unprofessional conduct or conflicts-of-interests in their partnerships.

Thanks for that info, I appreciate it.

So CNN can legitimately claim that they have no control over Gupta's right to politically contribute, but it is unquestionably a blatant conflict of interest within Opinion Research Corp., and it renders their polling results and methodology as suspect as John Zogby's.

It’s true that the vast majority of journalists materially support Democrats in their private lives, but they turn off their biases and become completely neutral when acting as paid professionals writing and disseminating objective news stories.

Just ask them, they’ll tell you.
