Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo criticized two of his GOP rivals on their commitment to combat illegal immigration. Tancredo said he is running for president because no other candidate has as strong a commiyment to illegal immigration as he does. He said Rudy Giuliani, a former New York City mayor, has tried to make it a "sanctuary city" for illegal immigrants. "He's now happy as a clam with the idea of securing our borders and going after immigration - it's great," Tancredo said. "It's wonderful. I don't believe a word of it." Tancredo said Sam Brownback has blocked innigration reform efforts in 1996. "He's been an open-borders guy for years," Tancredo said. "During a 1996 debate on the issue, he was the primary opponent to most reform issues. Now he's trying to, quote, modify his approach and say he's always been with us." A telephone message to Brownback's campaign was not returned.

Regardless, still don’t know who you mean by “shouting. If Rudy is doing lots of shouting, it’s not going to help him.

When the records of all the contenders are examined and brought to light there will be many unreturned phone calls. Tancredo and Hunter are the only two who won't have to go into hiding. Tancredo has a 92% rating with the American Conservative Union and Hunter has been a courageous and stalwart defender of American sovereignty and our borders against the illegal foreign invasion.

That's why the "business as usual" crowd continue their attempts to undermine or discredit these two candidates.

I have yet to chose a candidate that I will support. However, at this stage of the game I am leaning towards Tancredo or Hunter.

With Hunter's understanding of the WOT, with his direct family being involved, and his undisputed efforts to control and secure our lawless borders, he seems like the common sense choice.

“Not electable” is the shout used on any person that would actually follow the Constitution if they were elected. It is used to silence the issues and keep the status quo of continually moving closer to international socialism. Bush is a Globalist. His not doing anything about securing the borders makes that obvious but most here refuse to see that because they listen to and are held prisoner by that oft heard refrain of international socialism: “You must vote for the lesser of two evils.” The laws to enforce the border integrity of the United States are already there. What you have here is the government refusing to do one of the eighteen enumerated “jobs” they are supposed to be doing instead of all that other unauthorized, unconstitutional crap such as giving taxpayer money to Aids research in Africa!

Tancredo is definitely pro-life, a strong defender of the Second Amendment, and supports traditional family values. I havn’t checked out Hunter’s record on those issues but perhaps some other FReepers have. I’d be very surprised if he and Tancredo weren’t walking in locked step on those issues.

seems like tancredo has most of the same platform as Ron Paul. the only difference seems to be tancredo goes full 9 on the christian right agenda, selling wrath towards gays and illegals.

Ron Paul is the only sensible President, as he is the only one who will follow the Constitution, which is the best attempt to guarantee the most liberty and power to the average American citizen.

>> I understand Thompson supporters are excited about Fred, but I wish they’d stop shouting “unelectable!” at the backers of other conservative candidates when the evidence does not back up the claim that Thompson is electable or that the other candidates are unelectable, at least not at this point. <<

I agree. I read some poll that had Fred trailing Obama by 14 points. Their whole premise on why Fred would do soooooo much better than anyone else in the general election seems to be 1) Fred has instant recongition -- the general public knows Fred from TV, 2) The general public all view Fred as a nice guy 3) Nice guy celebrities are electable.

If that were true, we'd be saying "President Bill Bradley" right now.
