Good timing on this. They are coming back on the east coast. Folks used to call them ghost cats because of the noise. I heard one for the first time in my life in a remote spot in the North Carolina mountains yesterday. It is a horrifying noise particularly when you are miles from civilization. I’ve never heard anything like it. It does sound like a ghost.

Had to be it because one had been reported recently in the area and it had been heard and spotted at that pond in the past year. Tracks had also been found on several occasons. I of course didn’t know this when I went into the woods.

Weren’t there several sightings in Beverly, Ma a couple of years ago?

I don't know about Beverly, but I know there have been occasional sightings in and around Hockomock swamp in Plymouth County (southeastern) Mass.

I love Maine Coon cats. Great personalities.

At least it wasn't an angry cat:

I had a Norwegian Forest Cat, the ancestor of the Main Coon. We gave each other a wide berth, and we got along fine.
What????

Isn’t that a Maine Coon in that “barking cat” video?

Mebbe he scatted before he scatted?

Dogs chained outside get eaten by coyotes, I’d suspect something like that could happen with a mountain lion around.

The animal shed the fur while grooming itself on a rock in Higgins's backyard in April
Sounds more like the middle-aged time traveling cat...
