Venus Williams remains on track for a fourth Wimbledon title after hammering Ana Ivanovic 6-2 6-4 in the semis.
The American's power and athleticism were too much for the 19-year-old French Open finalist to cope with in an opening set that lasted 35 minutes.
Ivanovic recovered an early break in the second set, to the delight of the Centre Court Crowd, but Williams regained the advantage in game seven.

With both the Williams sisters it appears that they periodically lose interest and then their results suffer. Then they get interested again and suddenly they are the world’s best again. Serena, left for dead last year, won the Australian Open out of nowhere by hammering Maria Sharapova.

The Williams sisters
either are examples of
"athletic power"
or better living
through chemistry. Injuries
with long healing times
coupled with constant
new injuries seems to point
to the chemistry ...

Is there extensive drug testing in tennis?

Didn’t she pull a calf muscle while on the court, yet continued to play the other day?

That was Serena’s match, she called for a bathroom break in the 3rd set and then didn’t use it, and some called gamesmanship.

The players say yes,
but critics say that the tests
are only looking
for out-of-date drugs
that current generation
athletes don't mess with...
So far as I know,
neither tour goes public with
just what they test for.
(I'm a cynic and
I just assume players are
bad as Chris Benoit.)

Anyone who's seen the development of the Williams sisters from their early teens onwards knows how insane an accusation of "chemistry" as the font of their success is. Their respective physiques didn't exactly just appear one day.
Tennis is a tough sport, everyone gets injuries in it, and powerfully explosive athletes tend to get injured more than most--- that's the nature of powerfully explosive movement.
That Serena in particular is doing better this year than last is utterly understandable. She was injured much of last year--- it happens--- and her freaking sister was murdered. That last will tend to take your mind of things off the less important things in your life, like tennis, I think.

I’ve loved the Williams sisters ever since I heard a sound clip of one of them (not sure which) telling Billy Bob,while he was president, something like “my taxes are too high”.
