BASALT According to Sgt. Jose J. Chavira, Basalt police have been working around the clock on a recent shooting at the 7-Eleven.
Basalt investigators on June 27 questioned a man who acknowledged a verbal altercation with a clerk but denied shooting into the store a day earlier. Police did not take the man - who claimed he didn't know anything about the shooting - into custody.
At this time there are no updates, and the case is still under investigation, Chavira said in a press release Saturday. But police have release a photo of a person of interest whom they need help identifying.
"We have no information on the person that is on the picture, so we are asking the public for help in identifying the Latino male that is in the pictures," Chavira said in the release.
Five bullets penetrated a large plate-glass window in front of the 7-Eleven about 11:10 p.m. June 26. No one was injured, although the clerk and four patrons were lucky to escape injury or death, Basalt Police Chief Keith Ikeda told The Aspen Times on June 29.
