It sounds like he did have to face up to this a long time ago, privately, unlike Clinton, who has never faced up to anything. He wasn’t caught now; he was just publicly humiliated and politically damaged now.

He said he committed “a sin”. Does anybody really believe this is the only woman he cheated on his wife with? That’s what he makes it sound like. It’s the only one that left a paper trail and got caught with basicly. Men who would go to a prostitute don’t usually have an “affair” with “a” prostitute and that’s it. They’re out there sampling many prostitutes and having sex with women that aren’t prostitutes as well.

U.S. Senate = 100 elitists who think they are above the average American and don’t have to practice what they preach for all of us.

I disagree, it wasn’t cowardly, it demonstrated enormous character for Livingston to give up the most powerful post in the House because he wasn’t going to allow the media and the rodents to use him as a convenient whipping-boy over the impeachment matter (i.e. “See, the Republican Speaker denied/lied about having sex !”). The Democrats WANTED him to stay... badly.

...and as Kuksool pointed out, if Livingston hadn’t resigned, Vitter would never have been elected, and we might not have that Senate seat today.

And I don’t equate being anti-gambling with being pro-family. Many families in Biloxi owe their survival to the existence of gambling.

Alot of families live off the liquor industry as well.

Gambling is destructive to the family.

Yes you’re right. This was NOT his only time cheating.

As Edwards himself pointed out, regarding LA voters, you’d have to be caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy to get tossed out of office. It’s 3 1/2 years until he’s up for reelection, and it’ll be a very distant issue by then (that is, unless they reveal he has a chronic problem with visting prostitutes). But it is quite convenient the media would choose to out a prominent anti-shamnesty Republican. Vitter obviously screwed up (and quite probably should’ve held a press conference of his own accord and acknowledged the accusations — since having them hang over his head could leave him open to political blackmail), but as the Madam herself revealed, this IS a media/Democrat effort to attack Republicans.

Let’s see how forthcoming they are with names of rodent and media clients, because as we all know, they’re all such chaste, loyal, and honorable types who would never screw others.

This will only help his popularity in Louisiana.

What a shame. He was a Hero in the Immigration fiasco. But what the Hell, he’s from Louisiana. Very few Choirboys rise to the top in the rough and tumble world of La. politics.

Nothing worse than cheating on your wife with a whore.

I can think of a few hundred worse things. Serial murders and rapes comes to mind.
We elected them twice, and even now are given them another chance.

Correct. It's a short term rental agreement, not an "affair."

If he’s calling hookers from a number that can be traced back to him he aint that slick. Not sure it matters though. Lousianna politicians and whores go together like chicken in gumbo.

Right. I’m sure their are services that are truly discreet. You know old Billy Jeff has been hiring call girls for years and the details never emerge. This guy is B list and probably didn’t know the smooth way to go about it.

“Douchebags always bring up God when they get caught. Hope he got a nasty itch.”

David Vitter is a devout Catholic and a lector in his local parish church. He is not conveniently “finding God” when he got caught; as he explained, years ago he confessed, repented and atoned for his sins and has turned over a new leaf. In any event, your comments about Senator Vitter were not very Christian.

Vitter’s wife said in an interview in the Times-Picayune in 2000, “I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary. If he does something like that, I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.”

Is he uh, talking in a squeaky voice now?
