There's nowhere but up for the most populous state in the nation. California will add more than 25 million people by 2050, according to population projections released Monday by the California Department of Finance.

The Golden State, which had less than 34 million residents in the 2000 census, will have nearly 60 million residents at the mid-century point. The state is projected to hit the 40 million mark in 2012 and 50 million by 2032.

Projections also show Latinos will constitute the majority of Californians by 2042.

And by 2050, Latinos will make up 52 percent of the state while whites will make up 26 percent. Asians are expected to be at 13 percent, blacks 5 percent, with 2 percent multiracial.

Roughly the same year France — based on current birth rates and demographic trends — is projected to be a majority Muslim country.

Will they still have minority status when they are the majority?

I thought “global warming” was going to put California underwater in the next 10 years. Then we’re going to be wiped out by an asteroid shortly after that. Looks like the MSM’s “latinos” are going to be a day late and a dollar short.

Having visited and seen most of the countries in Latin America I’d just like to say hasta la vista amigos.

Those projections are probably assuming that the number of border crossers will remain the same. I wouldn’t count on that.

Well that could change if CA runs out of water, or if a recession hits.

The CA economy is sitting on top of some very, very high real estate values.

As long as they stay high, the state functions. Tax receipts manage to keep up with massive spending giveaways.

But if things go south in CA, they’re going (way) south IMHO. There will be an exodus of higher skilled people, taxes will continue to increase, causing businesses to flee with the skilled labor force.

Then what? Will Californians attempt to tax Nevada, Arizona or Oregon to pay for the massive social spending?

Just saying...

Where are they going to get the food, water and gas for that population increase?

Wonderful!!

I do look forward to advancement and great leaps and bounds in the fields of science, academia, urban planning, arts, customer service, cleanliness and public sanitation, higher education, clean streets, model communities, lower drunk driving rates, higher literacy, peace and quiet, respect for laws, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Actually not. Non-hispanic whites are today 1/4 of the age group 0-5 in California.
