Senator's Number on Escort Service List

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 WASHINGTON - Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, whose telephone number was disclosed by the so-called "D.C. Madam" accused of running a prostitution ring, says he is sorry for a "serious sin" and that he has already made peace with his wife.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said Monday in a printed statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there - with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement Monday evening in an e-mail to The Associated Press after a statement purported to be from Vitter was received by to the AP bureau in New Orleans.

It said his telephone number was on old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate.

Did you hurt yourself coming up with that position?

Yoga helps.

I have confidence that Vitter has changed his ways because every reporter in Washington is going to be following him around with a telephoto lens for the next five years. If he is still fooling around, he will be found out by Friday.

Remember when Gary Hart(pence) challenged the Washington Press Corps to follow him around, and got busted with a broad almost immediately? The folks in Washington learned that lesson. You don't make a statement like this unless you know darn well your laundry is clean.

If Vitter was still messing around, he would have just hunkered down and tried to ride this one out. A statement like his, that he has reconciled with his wife and given up his sinful ways, is like waving a red flag in front of a bull, as far as the Washington Press Corps is concerned. They are going to come after him hard, and he has to know that.

Vitter has stepped up, admitted his infidelity, resolved the matter with his family, and changed his ways. To my mind, this is more of a positive story about the man than a negative one. I don’t demand or expect that anybody be perfect.

Wrong. The man is a moral reprobate who should immediately resign from office in disgrace. Cheating on one's wife, particularly with four children, should not be a forgivable offense for any public official.

We, as a society, must roll back the scummy moral culture that Bill Clinton has wrought. It's an absolute joke that his (Clinton's) womanizing is now looked at as part of his charm.

Vitter should demonstrate how truly shameful his actions were by being a man, resigning from the Senate, and going back home. Period.

Why is it always “just” Republicans?
____________

I have a theory. Democrats are obviously incredibly promiscuous. That being the case, there are always other dems with whom other dems can ‘hook up’, for free, anonymous, no strings attached sex. Republicans, well, at least those who are subject to their animal instincts, can’t stoop to having sex with the promiscuous dems, and so are forced to have sex with prostitutes.

/tongue in cheek

There are dozens of Dem’s on the list, but don’t expect the MSM to disclose ANY of them.
The judge should order that ALL names be revealed, to prevent this (sorry) cherry picking.

This is really very simple. If he lies to his wife, he will lie to you. Period

There are no names included but the link I posted in post number 5 has the woman’s entire phone record. It’s hard to get into due to traffic but the numbers themselves are listed and may give some clues.

We are just going to have to disagree on that point. Just because the man (oh, fill in your own blank... however I characterize it will not be strong enough for the tar-and-feather set) does not mean he should give up his life's work and renege on the promises he made to the voters of his state. He is a Senator, and he was elected to do his job. He should take that responsibility seriously until such time as the voters decide to take that job away.

Ultimately it is up to the voters. If he has mended his ways, I would imagine the voters will be merciful. If he is continuing in his evil ways, I would imagine they will toss him out on his ear.

If he voluntarily came forward and told the painful truth to his wife, worked through the pain and mended his ways, perhaps he will be truthful with you, even when the truth hurts.

I prefer somebody who has grown and learned to somebody who was just born good and never faltered. Come to think of it, I don't know too many of that second type, anyway.

Vitter strongly denies it. I wonder if this is some sort of “dirty trick” [pun intended] to tarnish Vitter because of his strong stance on defeating the immigration bill. It wouldn’t take much for some Dem operative to pay the Madame to include Vitter’s telephone number on the list.

Conservatives need to send a message to our fellow Republicans that married means married.

And Judaeo Christian values matter!

Well maybe you're right, Republicans would be more apt to have SAFE sex.

How do you know he had four children when his “unforgiveable sin” took place????

Like I said, it must be wonderful to be so painfully pure.

How do you know that?

Oh, I forgot -- you are so pure that you never told a lie.

Or is it that you speak from personal experience, and you are judging him by your own weakness?

Because this does not involve a gay escort service.

I agree with you, it is wrong for them to do “cherry picking” that was a good point, this just gives way to more corruption and it’s helping this country to be hijacked by those without any conscience. People sin, that’s true, but I hate to see those with evil hearts unfairly prevail.
