Senator's Number on Escort Service List

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 WASHINGTON - Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, whose telephone number was disclosed by the so-called "D.C. Madam" accused of running a prostitution ring, says he is sorry for a "serious sin" and that he has already made peace with his wife.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said Monday in a printed statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there - with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement Monday evening in an e-mail to The Associated Press after a statement purported to be from Vitter was received by to the AP bureau in New Orleans.

It said his telephone number was on old phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate.

I don’t disagree with you, but I would suggest that if those values mattered more to the people sharing our church pews first, they would eventually matter more to our politicians.

“Vitter strongly denies it. I wonder if this is some sort of “dirty trick” [pun intended] to tarnish Vitter because of his strong stance on defeating the immigration bill. It wouldn’t take much for some Dem operative to pay the Madame to include Vitter’s telephone number on the list.”

No he doesn’t. He issued a statement apologizing for his past life “sins” and his office has acknowledged it. There is no “dirty trick” here except for him.

I stand corrected. I had read earlier that his office had denied it.

Considering the whore who released the list is a Democrat, I’d waiver she let the Dems clean the list before she released it.

And I am fully in agreement with that as well!

Why is it always “just” Republicans?

It is the GOP that get busted. The left is the ones offering 10000000000 of $$$$ for info on the ones in the right. If the perps would keep their zippers closed and their minds on their jobs and family this type of thing would not happen, but they always think the grass is greener across the road. Pitty... but I never really liked him in the first place and now I dispise him!

I disagree with the "leave it to the voters" response. We as a society have lost a sense of shame - no matter what we do, there's always an excuse for it. It makes my stomach turn to see Vitter essentially use Bill Clinton's excuse of "I've apologized to my wife, so everything's okay". B.S.

One's marital vows are the most important promise a human being makes to another. He has pissed all over them. He has humiliated his children. He now has zero moral authority to lead. He needs to go home.

And it wasn't like he engaged in an affair with a co-worker, where at least his "I was lonely, we worked long hours" crap could make it understandable (although still not forgiveable). No, he went out to pay some skank for sex. What a disgrace.

I can only see this as clearing the off some of the crap from the GOP. There are too many RINOs in the group and as a party, it’s turning into the lite version of the DNC.

Like I said, it must be wonderful to be so painfully pure.If by being "painfully pure" you mean that I haven't cheated on my wife with anyone, much less a prostitute, and publicly humiliated her, then you're correct - it is wonderful.

If moral authority was a requirement to serve in Washington, there would be tumbleweeds blowing across the Mall.

As for Vitter's marital vows, it seems that he has worked things out with his wife, a long time ago and well before this became public. I am not saying we should give him a medal, but we should give him credit for that. That could not have been easy.

Contrast this with Bill Clinton, who lied and cheated all along the way. The two cases, on the face of things, are not comparable.

And it wasn't like he engaged in an affair with a co-worker, where at least his "I was lonely, we worked long hours" crap could make it understandable (although still not forgiveable). No, he went out to pay some skank for sex. What a disgrace.

As for the reletive seriousness of having an affair with a co-worker as opposed to going out and procuring sex from a stranger for money, I think many wives would rather choose the latter than the former (if they had to choose). At least then there is no emotional attachment.

Do you really think that that is all I meant? If you do, you don't understand what painfully pure means when applied to some people who are themselves, I am pretty sure, less-than-perfect, yet give loud voice to their knee jerk willingness to pass judgment on the man, throw him out into the street and piss on his grave. And who have decided that he is unworthy of holding down a job to which he was fairly elected, and who is one helluva better man than a goodly number of those chowderheaded slugs he has to work with every day. They make me want to throw up.

So, if you don't get my meaning, I give up.
