Sen. Vitter Apologizes for His Link to 'D.C. Madam'(Rudy Supporter!)

Republican Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, whose phone number was linked to Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called "D.C. Madam," says that he is sorry for a "serious sin" and that he has already made peace with his wife.

Palfrey is awaiting trial on racketeering charges related to a prostitution ring she allegedly ran.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said Monday evening in a printed statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

[snip]He has perhaps been best known nationally for criticizing the federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina, opposing Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, fighting for the Federal Marriage Amendment and endorsing Giuliani."

I don’t remember reading anywhere in the MSM about how Democrat Congressman Frank’s gay lover ran a prostitution ring from their home.

Anyone? Bueller?

On what planet do you live?
He will probably not be senator from Louisiana for more than one term If he completes that.
The madam may call him as a defense witness!
Really what are you thinking.
The guy has a history of consorting with Prostitutes!
Does this not bother you?

Be careful, many here want him stoned. Yeah, that is the ticket, he should resign and that dim bulb Blanco can appoint a Dem replacement for 3 years.

From an earlier post:

The acknowledgment from Vitter, a Republican who recently won praise from conservatives for his opposition to the immigration reform bill, comes days after U.S. District Court Judge Gladys Kessler lifted a restraining order, allowing Palfrey, 51, to distribute pages of phone records that she and her attorney said contains up to 15,000 names.

On Monday, she released the numbers on her Web site.

What sticks out in my mind is that this man saved this country last month. He joined with Demint, Sessions and Coburn to stop the immigration bill that would have wrecked this nation. He is a hero and should be regarded as such by anyone here. He may have a flaw or so but what he did should be remembered by us all. And this is what he gets for this from the stinkin’ maggot scum sucking MSM. we should stand behind him 100%.

Translation: He's pond scum, but he's our pond scum. If this is what people meant by "the party of personal responsibility," it's no wonder we're losing our grip on the national reigns.

I doubt that, but it would be neat.

I sure wish he wouldn’t have contacted the agency, but we all owe a debt of gratitude to Sen. Vitter for his vigorous arguments in shooting down the amnesty bill. He was tenacious in presenting numerous arguments against the bill, so let’s keep that in mind. I actually thought (and still do think) there’s a chance for him to run for President in at some point in the future.

I wish he hadn't contacted the agency, but what's done is done. If he's truly repented and doesn't have anything else lurking in his closet, I'll stick by him. I doubt he'll become president after this though, and I'm cringing about his chances to hold onto his seat.

He did something wonderful.
Kudos.
Now, on to reality.
The Man has been lying about prostitution for quite some time.
This is not his first go around with the subject.
He must have a massive ego to think he could get away with it.
I do not think he “has a flaw or so”. He is a serial adulterer and liar.
I read speculation on a BLog tonight that the DC madam may call him as a defense witness as her claim is she is only offering a “sexual fantasy company” not a prostitution ring.
Won’t that be dignified? I feel the sorriest for his poor children. The Mrs. knew he was a scoundrel and stuck around after a Louisiana Bordello liaison.

He not only did something wonderful he helped save the damn country. As far as I am concerned he can see all of the whores he wants to if he promises to keep popping up like Superman or Zorro when he is needed. that is the reality. This is a just ahustle Larry flynt and the hard left in the media to smear us all. If you respond this way you are just helping Hustler mold the country in to it's image. Do you want that?

Wow. So you do not actually have any standards. If a guy is good on one of your high priority issues( I called the folks downtown here to scream about immigration near on 30 times) then well he could do almost anything.
That is the same thinking that has kept the drunken, sleazy Bay state girl killer in office for the past 40 years.
Nope, sorry. The whole point of being a philosophical conservative is that we have a coherent philosophy. Not just pick and choose situational ethics.

You can search by specific phone number, only, at her web-site.

Maybe if some hacker could get in and get his/her hands on the imbedded DB ....

She put up images of all her records on her site. (They're just scans of all her phone bills since 1994) - http://www.deborahjeanepalfrey.com/Jeane10c.html

Some "hackers" are putting together a database (not yet complete) at http://www.dcphonelist.com/ - They are processing the image files through OCR software to create a searchable database of numbers. They specifically release everything to the public domain, so I wouldn't be surprised that once the indexing is complete, they will publish the full database on the site.

I haven't heard of anyone actually identified by the records since she released them, though. It sounds like Vitter just outed himself ahead of time because he knew what was coming. We'll see hat turns up after people have a bit of time to dig through them, though..

At least Vitter’s escort didn’t end up dead, like Kennedy’s.
