At this point the conservative sense of smell has been honed to blood hound like sensitivity. We have been burned by one too many RINO and bowed to the "lesser of two evils" dodge one too many times.
If we want a real conservative that isn't insane or yachting buddies with Ted Kennedy we need to make sure we get them in the primary. McCain ain't the real deal...

2. Jim and anyone he appoints to "moderate" has every right to determine what threads belong on the sidebars and which do not, and I have never PUBLICLY disagreed with any decision of Jim's or his staff
3. Yes, I did place a LIVE U.S. Senate thread on the sidebar, as I would hope other folks are concerned about what is taking place on the floor at this time.
4. As an Admin Moderator, and a representative of Jim, did you check with Jim before PUBLICLY attacking me? or threatening to suspend me because I thought a LIVE U.S. Senate Debate that DIRECTLY affects National Security was/is a "sidebar" appropriate thread.

Does the Constitution give Congress the authority to execute wars?
I am under the understanding that Congress votes for wars and then they fund them. I am under the understanding that the President listens to his Generals and makes decisions.
Something change around here? How can Congress pass laws the effect the execution of a war?
Seems to me that Congress is stepping over their boundries set by the Constitution.

Speaking of C-SPAN .. I love how they had an AEI conference on Iraq and didn’t air it until 2 am.
I fell asleep watching TV and when I woke up at 2 am - I began channel surfing just to see if anything was going on. When I got to C-SPAN - here was this conference and a couple of the guys on the panel were saying some really good stuff. I presumed it was from the later Report in Iraq.
I’m trying to remember what was said - but one item I recall was that the Sunni leaders had all gotten together and decided they would help the new govt instead of kill other Iraqis .. and they met with our military leadership. As soon as that happened .. all the Sunnis who had volunteered for the Iraqi army or police became immediate targets. It appeared like it was sectarian violence - but it was just the terrorists wreaking revenge for the Sunnis’ supposed betrayal.
I thought that was very interesting .. and something I had not heard on the news.
There were several really strong comments about the dems wanting us to leave before the “surge” even got rolling. The general consensus of the panel was that we should just WAIT for Petreas to give his report in September before we decide if there needs to be other changes.
Also .. it was mentioned several times that our military are NOT ALLOWED TO KILL - what the hell is that all about ..?? An army is only there to KILL AND BREAK THINGS .. if they can’t kill - they’re going to BE KILLED.
We need to start applying some pressure about changing the RULES OF ENGAGEMENT FOR OUR TROOPS. And .. if Maliki doesn’t like it .. tell him to get his own troops to do the job.
