Targeted raid in Sadr City kills eight insurgents 2nd BCT, 82nd Airborne Division Public Affairs Multi-National Division Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD Eight insurgents were killed during a targeted raid in eastern Baghdad July 9.
Elements of 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, attached to the 82nd Airborne Divisions 2nd Brigade Combat Team, killed eight members of a criminal militia, believed to be responsible for roadside bomb emplacements and indirect fire attacks originating from Sadr City, while conducting an early morning precision raid in the eastern Baghdad security district July 9.
After receiving a tip from residents on the whereabouts of leaders of a criminal militia operating inside Sadr City, Soldiers from the unit cordoned off the area and began searching the objective area. Within minutes of arriving on the scene, the Soldiers were engaged by rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire from numerous locations.
The Soldiers responded, killing the eight insurgents during the ensuing firefight.
By continuing to show a presence in Sadr City, we ensure members of these criminal militias know that there is no safe haven for those who wish to undermine the government of Iraq, or the people of Iraq who want peace and stability in their neighborhoods, said Lt. Col. David Oclander, executive officer for the 82nd Airborne Divisions 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
News about the 82nd Airborne ping
Eight less planting roadside bombs...Great news!
Thanks for the ping!
Very cool crest. I like it.
Pretty cool, huh? I knew the 82nd, but when I put the 2nd Brigade in the search, here came the Falcon Brigade crest.
I thank you for giving them recognition for their successes by displaying their crest.
“Excellent News” Bump!
This calls for singing in the streets! How about “Who took the trash out, bump, bump, bump...”
I'm sure of it. The helicopters have been buzzing around over Sadr City for the last two days. We all knew they were looking for the scum that launched all that crap.
I hope they're all dead now.
I suppose it's too much to hope that Mookie caught one.
That coward doesn't show his face around Baghdad these days. Word has it that he went scurrying back to Iran when the offensive started.
What a guy, huh?
Good evening, Allegra...really glad to hear about the payback raining down on the scum. Seconding your hopes.
