Mayor Challenges Congress
BOSTON -- A massive billboard along the Massachusetts Turnpike raises the stakes in the gun-control debate.
NewsCenter 5's Janet Wu reported that a nonprofit organization called "Stop Handgun Violence" unveiled its newest billboard today.
The 252-foot ad displays a fictitious ransom note designed using pasted-together letters that reads, "We have your President & Congress - NRA."
Lt. Gov. Tim Murray said that the message is a simple call for stricter gun law enforcement nationwide.
Statistics show that, on average, 83 people are killed each day in the U.S. by guns.
In Washington D.C., Boston Mayor Tom Menino challenged Congress Tuesday to do more to help cities fight gun violence.

Why don’t these Massholes go after the criminal gang members that are causing most of this violence?
While I don't have an easy answer to deal with the problem, it is clear that CITIES have these problems and rural and suburban areas do not.
Maybe they must declare some of these CITIES to be gun-free drug zones, where urban "yutes" can rap and get high and steal each others' rims. But the problems will continue and unless there can be a quantum change of LIFESTYLE in these CITIES, the violence will go on.
For all you Mayors of problem CITIES; don't come out here demanding that I give up my rights so your homicidal mobs can be more easily contained. Either figure out a way to get them educations, jobs and fathers or you will forever be faced with these urban blighted areas. I am not giving up ONE single right for your gang bangers. Not one. Either deal with their meaningless lives or live with the results. Maybe some of those jobs you sent to CHINA or gave to ILLEGALS could have taken these yutes off the streets. Don't come crying down here for your miserable FAILURE to manage your own citizens. There are good reasons why I don't live in your CITIES.
It's hard to get re-elected if you attack your constituents and donors.
how about another form of 'preventable' death?
stats show that 136 people die each day in the US.. in car accidents. BAN CARS NOW!
freakin moonbats... i seriously cannot think of one good thing that has come from the left in my lifetime (since the last 60s)
I like the option on the right better, myself.
Eighty-three people killed by guns every day? I wonder how many of them done deserved killing?
Should be replaced with a giant poster which reads, “We want to shred the constitution, and we’re starting with the Second Amendment.” At least then they’d be telling the truth.
Many -- perhaps most.
