Jake Tapper, former reporter for the obnoxiously leftist Salon, is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, but unlike most of his liberal colleagues, he actually attempts to do his job and ask difficult questions of Democrats rather than acting as an on-the-payroll campaign consultant for them. TAPPER: With all due respect, Senator, you didn't answer my question. REID: OK. This is not a debate. TAPPER: Will the Iraqis be safer? REID: We're answering questions. (calling on someone else) Yes, young man? Anyone else have a question? Follow-up questions for Democrats when they evade blunt questions about the deficiencies in their "plans" and the dubious assumptions contained within, rather than just letting a Democrat give his focus-grouped answer without challenge or further questioning! What a concept!!

Democrats have screamed for a plan for Iraq. They were given one, in fact, one they argued for - more troops. Democrats voted to approve this plan AND confirmed the commander who helped implement (who they would later call incompetent) and yet, 3 weeks into the plan, they're screaming for a new plan despite progress on 8/18 benchmarks, which is a better performance than they've had in SIX MONTHS IN CONGRESS!
Like my wife always say, just give them enough rope to hang themselves. Folks, it's working. There's a lot of ammo out there, it's time to get shooting!

You really need to cut poor old Harry a break — he hasn’t had time to worry about that, he’s been very, very busy calculating how many seats he can pick up if Iran takes over Iraq and the press helps him blame it on President Bush.

I've said for over a year now - That there isn't a WOT supporting 527 up and running bi-weekly TV & radio ads is shameful. A fully resourced WOT/Iraq supporting 527 (ala moveon.org ads).
Look how effective the Swift Boat ads of 04 were. How the WH/RNC behind the scenes haven't made certain of a fully funded WOT supporting 527 is simply shameful. This type of entity is needed with regard to the PR aspect of modern-day warfare / media.
A creative and informative bi-weekly WOT supporting 527 touting our successes, touting why we are in this fight and why we must stay offensive would turn public opinion around in a short time frame. Also, while showing the DEM leadership for who they are. A group that cannot be serious and cannot be trusted with NS.
Once a WOT 527 was up....funding would come in hand over fist from the grassroots / base.

In addition to ads...some sort of war bonds, but instead of creating more national debt, the bond should be a tax deduction. So you pay 25, you get 25 back in say X years + you get to deduct 50 from your taxes, something creative like that so the gov’t isn’t paying interest on it (per se), but getting short term help. AND it should be made free of Congress’s strings so the dumocrats can’t pull it.
