McCain Says He Won't Drop Out [unless he gets a fatal disease]
ABC News ^ | July 13, 2007 | Rick Klein and Bret Hovell

Sen. John McCain said Friday that only "contracting a fatal disease" will cause him to drop out of the presidential race before the primaries begin, as he vowed to take his campaign directly to the voters of New Hampshire and other early-voting states as a means of compensating for his financial difficulties.

Watch video here

McCain, R-Ariz., told reporters after a speech in Concord, N.H., that he will concentrate more on town-hall meetings and bus-tour campaigning to connect with voters. He vowed to fix the fund-raising woes that have left him with just $2 million in his campaign account, but suggested that money won't be the determining factor in New Hampshire or elsewhere.

"We'll win the same way we almost win in 2000," McCain said. "They know me [in New Hampshire]. They will not go through any other prism but the direct contact I will have with the people of New Hampshire and South Carolina and Iowa, and we'll win."

He may be a big time RINO, but he does have guts. I’m still not voting for him =)

Let’s not be morbid.

I’m reminded of John Edwards, who keeps going even though his wife has a fatal disease. It must be admitted that, by all appearances, it’s what she wants.

Elaphantiasis of the ego isn't fatal, fortunately. =)

I like McCain. Don't want him to be president, but I do like him, and he served his country.

Let’s not be morbid.

We're talking John McCain's campaign. It's deceased. It's pushing up daisies. Its metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians. He's pining for the fjords...well, you get the picture.

John McCain said Friday that only "contracting a fatal disease" will cause him to drop out of the presidential race before the primaries begin, as he vowed to take his campaign directly to the voters of New Hampshire and other early-voting states as a means of compensating for his financial difficulties.

And why not? If the money runs out, he can coast.

It's telling that, in the early stages, most candidates are at least vowing to ride it all the way to the convention. Six months out, McCain is only promising to hold out until New Hampshire.

McCain has found himself without a place to stand. As a conservative hawk on security but RINO on social issues, he's a poor second to Giuliani. As a "uniter, not a divider," he's no Romney. On the conservative "straight talk" front, he's no Thompson. He's been crowded out.

As far as a fatal [at least potentially] disease goes, how many cancer surgeries has McCain had now? I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see McCain pull out due to a health scare rather than lose face by just bowing to the inevitable.

If you want to donate to McCain because you like the guy and want to help him pay off campaign debt, feel free. but don't kid yourself that he'll be elected to anything other than his currnt post, senior Senator from Arizona.

No kidding here. McCain is done. He just doesn’t seem to know it yet, for some strange reason.

Yeah, I can’t help but like the guy, despite his big government inclinations. He’s not very high on the list of Republicans I would like to see as president, but as an alternative to Hillary... no complaints. :p

McCain isn’t even one tenth of the man he replaced in the Senate. He can stay in the race, drop out, move to Uruguay, I could care less. As long as he goes away...forever.

Fatal? We don't want that.

However he does already have a debilitating disease for conservatives : The RINO virus...

I still don't consider that proven.

This is an incredibly sleazy trial lawyer and his spouse, who live in luxury by having committed blatant legal fraud with his bizarre theatrics before a jury so they could live the limousine-liberal lifestyle.

I'm just saying I won't be surprised if suddenly she has a spontaneous remission. (I can almost see Edwards scurrying across Iowa shouting "Praise God, it's a miracle" like a televangelist with perfect hair.) I would put nothing past this slimy shyster.

McCain’s promise NOT to drop out of the Presidential race is merely a bright yellow “hot-line” over his unfitness for that office.
He is in the race and SPENDING the donated funds of persons who sent it to him believing that he would represent them well and fairly if he were to be elected to the office of President.
He KNOWS that he has no chance to be the nominee, as does that puny clown Kucinich and the “Fruited Pony” Edwards who has a greater chance of being cast as a fashion assistant on the fictional “Ugly Betty” than being sent to the Oval Office.
Pissing away the hard earned(sometimes)money of supporters in vain is down among the lower things a polititurd locked in to a forlorn hope may do.
But McCain should know better. He is at least alleged to be a real man.
