Virginia Again Wins Forbes.com Ranking as Best State for Business
July 11, 2007

Forbes.com has again named Virginia the best state for business. The second annual Top States for Business survey examined U.S. states in six categories: business and living costs; job and income growth; business climate; educational attainment; venture capital investment; and quality of life. Virginia finished in the top 10 in four of the categories. Utah, North Carolina, Texas and Washington round out the top five states.

That’s all true—the people of Virginia have a fine entrepenurial spirit and the technology sector in northern Va. is supplanting Silly Con’s Valley—I don’t see how the state government deserves credit for this, nor do I see how sacrificing personal liberty for a great business environment is a good tradeoff (I’ll spare you the over-the-top historical analogies of societies which have made that choice before).

Oh, and all that fantabulous growth in N. Va. none of that would be associated with the proximity of the Capitol of the free world would it? ;<)

If I were a drunken scofflaw I would get with my illegal neighbors and find out how to get an out of state drivers license with no paperwork. My Spanish should be good enough to get away with it. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about the new “fees”.

I hear ya! I just keep thinking about all the trouble I went through to get a VA driver's license 4 years ago. I should have kept my Delaware one.

That would have been easy if I had kept the DE license, the MD/DE state line is just a bit over an hour from here. But alas, I did the right thing and changed my license as soon as I could after we moved.

LOL!!!!

I should have done what I did when I moved from NY to DE, not bother with it until my NY license expired.

Didn’t Governor Gridlock say on WRVA’s “Ask the Governor” that the out of state exemption was because of the general assembly? Sheesh - my memory is not so good. But I could swear I heard him lay that on the GA. So, not only is he responsible for this abomination of a law, he’s blaming the other guys. Typical Dem.

Kaine will change that. "Abuser fees" are only the beginning.
