mericans See Liberal Media Bias on TV News Friday, July 13, 2007 Advertisment

By a 39% to 20% margin, American adults believe that the three major broadcast networks deliver news with a bias in favor of liberals. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 25% believe that ABC, CBS, and NBC deliver the news without any bias.

Similar results are found for CNN and National Public Radio (NPR). By a margin of 33% to 16%, Americans say that CNN has a liberal bias. The nation’s adults say the same about NPR by a 27% to 14% margin.

There is one major exception to the belief that media outlets have a liberal bias—Fox News. Thirty-one percent (31%) of Americans say it has a bias that favors conservatives while 15% say it has a liberal bias.

When it comes to delivering news without bias, 37% believe NPR accomplishes that goal. Thirty-six percent (36%) say the same for Fox and 32% believe it’s true of CNN. As noted earlier, just 25% believe the major broadcast networks deliver news in an unbiased manner. Results for other media outlets will be released over the next week.

Media fairness has emerged as a debate on Capitol Hill following the recent debate on immigration when public opinion overwhelmed the will of the Senate. Some lawmakers have called for a re-introduction of the “Fairness Doctrine” requiring stations to air competing points of view. Rasmussen Reports will release data on public attitudes towards that concept over the weekend.

Ergo 75 percent think that the news is somehow BIASED! Even the headline on the survey is biased.

I believe polls are exempt from the no call lists as are any businesses that you’ve dealt with. I think non-profits are exempt also. Those are the rules in Wisconsin.

Does anyone know where Rasmussen, Zogby, etc. get their phone lists?

NPR is one of the most left wing “news” outlets in operation.
Which is why I question the AFR (armed forces radio), the only halfway decent English station around here, for using the NPR feeds for news!?!? I listen to Rush every weeknight here (they only play him for an hour, not the full 3), and for almost every 'break' that Rush takes, they play NPR news >.

And that subgroup had a difficult time remembering their names.

I don’t se how only 39% would see the bias unless they just don’t watch tv news. hee hee

If only 39 percent say there is a liberal bias, then ipso facto 61 percent don’t understand the most fundamental thing about the media, and that’s ignorant. Whether they say “not sure” or something else isn’t the main point. It’s still a discouraging stat, though it’s probably a little better than it used to be.

Could be. Hope you’re right. Wish they had expressed an opinion, in that case.

The response from the news divisions of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and NPR were identical:

"LA LA LA LA LA LA LA...I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

NPRs on the air personalities also have the type of voice inflections we used to hear on Radio Moscow back during the Cold War.

If the Democrats pass the Fairness Doctrine, then Republicans should insist that Rush, Sean, Laura get on NPR to counter Nina, Terri Gross, and Moyers...

I haven’t listened to NPR for awhile; is Moyers still on?

“some lawmakers have called for the re-introduction of the fairness doctrine.”

expand the fairness doctrine to include elected officials; if a liberal is elected, a conservative must be appointed to balance the point of view of the liberal and vice versa. (it’s only fair, isn’t it?”)

(heil hillary!!!)

First, the 20% wouldn’t recognize a liberal if a fat drunken blob from Massachusetts fell on them. Second, the 41% without an opinion suggest to me that they are interviewing ostriches in zoos. What language do ostriches speak?

If NPR were as biased towards Republicans as it is toward Dems, tax dollars would have been pulled long ago (as they should be). This a a case of powerful Dems making certain that their mouthpiece keeps its power.

Rasmussen gets his from the evil NSA super secret snooper lists. Zogby gets his from the communist party {a.k.a} the DNC {a.k.a.} the msm.
