Lumpkin — Eynar Paredes-Corea has spent more than two months in detention in southwest Georgia, nearly 400 miles from his family in Charlotte, passing the long hours waiting to learn if he'll be deported to his homeland.
The 44-year-old Nicaraguan worries about his wife, a legal resident from El Salvador, and their three teenage children, who are U.S. citizens. He says his wife has had panic attacks since he was taken into federal custody. The carpenter is also distressed to hear that his children want to quit school to work and support the family. Paredes-Corea, who contends he ended up in custody after being falsely accused of assault, said he doesn't know the status of his case.
Martin Gongora-Flores, 33 and a Mexican native, ended up in deportation proceedings after he was put on probation for a DUI charge. His wife and baby, both U.S. citizens, are in Summerville, S.C. She has only been able to visit once since he arrived at Stewart in early April, Gongora-Flores said.
Georgia has instituted some tougher immigration laws as of July 1st. I live in Norcross and I see the police presence is quite heavy these days.
For those of you not familiar with Norcross GA. It has become a little Tijuana, with several apartment complexes that are de facto barrios of Mexico City. A quick check of Scanngwinnett.com will show you the lovely faces arrested on a daily basis.

Rather than crafting these pathetic sob stories, Susan Varela ought to go down to the southern Mexican border to see how its immigration detainees are treated. Now *that* would be a news story.
But she clearly has zero concept of the harsh treatment applied to visa and immigration violators almost everywhere and anywhere around the planet.
I gather from the stupidity of this story that the AJC actually prefers to have ignorant nitwits covering its news beats.
The media sob stories are going to kick in high gear. Congress and the administration know that they have to sway public opionion if an amnesty bill is ever going to pass.
Will we ever see the other stories about illegal alien cop killers, illegal alien gangs, illegal alien murderers, rapists, child molesters, drunk driving manslaughter convictions, welfare cheats, illegal aliens draining our social services? NOT!!!!!

Stories on how an ILLEGAL ALIEN who’s first act was to break our laws, are having problems is really getting old. This is a propaganda fluff piece or yellow journalism. This story is no different than writing about the loneliness of a bank robber, or home invader. Why do you LIBERAL SOCIALIST refuse to write about the real problems? For instance the 25 Americans killed each day by ILLEGAL ALIENS through out right crime or drunken driving? How about the real problem of ILLEGAL ALIENS not ASSIMILATING? They refuse to learn English or are too stupid too, and continue to have their loyalties to their home countries. Or the fact that they and their relatives are bringing in poverty to America, are destroying our schools, and causing the closure of our hospitals and emergency rooms. WE ARE EXPERIENCING AN INVASION, and you are on the side of the invaders.
Why are you not questioning the fact that FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS are interfering with our laws and their criminal? Does it not bother you that “Ana Castro, an administrative assistant for the general consul for El Salvador in Atlanta, has met with fellow countrymen at the detention center several times?”
Why do you not write about the poor white American that has to accept lower wages or loss of jobs due to ILLEGAL ALIENS?

The AJC is ownwed by Cox Communications. They also own WSB who’s lineup consists of Neal Boortz, Hannity and Mike Savage.
Between these powerhouses they pull in huge ratings, boocoo’s of advertisers and listeners.
On the other hand the newspaper has a largely liberal staff and its losing readers and advertisers on a daily basis.
You’d think Cox would wake up and smell the coffee and get shed of Cynthia Tucker, J. Bookman and the rest of those left leaning socialists and go back to honest reporting and reflecting the views of the majority of Georgians.

Hello did you read the article and understand it? The man is Nicaraguan not Mexican Duh. Not that it makes a hill of beans but when you post things like that others who like you did not read the article assume he is Mexican which he is not. Condemn him by all means but make sure you get his country correct. Out problem lies much farther South then just the Mexican border

Every night here on I-75 vans full of illegal aliens are just let go because we dont have 287G activated to detain them..
After checking for drugs etc...they go on their merry way...whether or not they are wanted criminals..no way to check etc...
