"Martinez is skeptical a border wall would be the most appropriate solution to stop the immigration spill into the U.S."

Actually, Martinez KNEW that the border fence in that area would prevent or at least hinder the illegal encroachment of America by foreign invaders.

Were they naked? It can’t be taken serious unless they’re naked!

“Martinez said nothing will stop immigrants from coming to the U.S. looking for what he calls the American Dream.”

Mr. Martinez, ever hear of the concept of an international boarder, like the one South of Mexico which is vigorously enforced? I understand you’re Mexican first and a citizen of the US second. However, understanding this concept isn’t hard. The US is being flooded by criminals; we have a soft underbelly through which anyone could come in with the intent to do us harm. Since we’re on the topic of security, how many of these illegals have TB do you think?

An illegal immigrant from Mexico in Southern California was responsible for infecting at least 56 other people before he was incarcerated and forced to undergo treatment in 1997. Why do you think the rate of TB is disproportional to the rest of the country along boarder states? Ever hear of ebola, leprosy, polio….etc? Do you know why we have an INS and a system with procedures in place for immigration? What if I said that roughly 80% of all TB cases in the US are either illegals are people who were infected by illegals?

The overwhelming majority of the illegals are unskilled and uneducated laborers who only have a marginal benefit to offer this society. It’s not the surgeon from Mexico City that’s hopping the boarder, and if you look at prisons in boarder states you might be surprised to see this substantiated. Many of these people don’t integrate into society and can’t even speak English, many end up being a burden on the tax payer, our social services, neighborhoods…etc.

Think about this for a second. In this country we probably have somewhere around 12,000,000 illegals. Roughly 90% of them are uninsured! Just so that number soaks in, 90%. Tomorrow it will people like you advocating national healthcare, aka social medicine. Will you also mention who makes up roughly 1/3-1/2 of those uninsured?

In reality the fix here too is simple. In the US we have the IRS, local Police, and other federal and state institutions which if prodded to do their damn job could easily identify the culprits (employers) feeding this monster of illegal immigration and those who are here illegally. Furthermore, fences cost money and can be dug under, climbed over, busted through….whatever. A change in US laws concerning citizenship needs to be considered. The illegal squeezing out her baby here and this baby having a birthright to US citizenship makes no sense. Australia actually could be a good example to follow.

A fence is the clean political way of dealing with this problem but does not fix anything as you state. Believe it or not Mr. Martinez, we agree! Boarder “ENFORCEMENT” is easy if the authorities there have the green light to enforce the boarder using the means they only theoretically have available, if you catch my drift. However, images and political sensitivities rule the political process. So we'll have to deal with a fence which will bring us little but is about as far as anyone is willing to take the issue, since illegal immigration is largely perceived as a victimless crime, Americans will have a low threshold for the ugly, which is inevitable with any true intent to enforce our boarder. However, the reworking of US law concerning citizenship, various law enforcement agencies enforcing the laws, federal and state authorities going after employers; if executed thoroughly will dry up the well. We can all rest assured though, the enforcement side of our boarder will go neglected because this is not a pretty political course of action. There is a reason why this fence is still not built, still not funded..... The fence, like the nonsense Democratic Party proposals on Iraq for withdraw is there to appease those who demand action but it's already known that nothing will be accomplished with this move. It's a political maneuver that is necessary but is in reality not supported.

A lot of us down here on the border are in favor of just that... YOU damyankees are so afraid of our business associates and neighbors (and want to screw up our agriculture, environment and neighborhood ties) that it doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Oh, we’ll let y’all in to visit, but please stop all moving down this way from Minnesota and Wisconsin and Iowa and then expecting us to conform to you’re lifestyles. We were fine before you started whining about the same folks that have always lived and done business here doing business where you live.

No, it didn’t. All it did was make my people ride around the ends. The most it ever did was stop local banditry. It never, ever stopped a large invading force - or, for that matter, a smaller, determined one.

And we dislike being called animals, thank you.

And, by the way, I’m not saying that we shoudn’t build the wall, just saying that the Great Wall wasn’t successful in its stated aim.

It did something else spectacularly well, but that’s a topic for another time.

Jorge Martinez, a student at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, said the construction of a border wall would be a burden to tax payers....

Of course, the millions of illegals draining the coffers of our welfare systems don't cost the taxpayers anything./sarc

Jorge Martinez, a student ( junior communication major) at the University of Texas at Brownsville

“China tried (built a wall) and it didn’t work.”

“The Berlin Wall (did not work),” he said.

Well.

I predict that master Martinez will retain his student status for a VERY long time.

Group forms human wall in protest of border fence

Useless effort. Walls don't work, remember?
