Dems Apparently Fear Thompson

When one political party tries to influence the other's presidential primary race the reasonable assumption is that someone is trying to stop the nomination of a candidate that party does not want to face in November.

That's why a Democrat-aligned group injecting itself into the Republican campaign by alleging that Fred Thompson lobbied for abortion rights is a pretty good indication the other side thinks he has serious potential.
Thompson has become a force in the GOP polls even though almost half of Republicans and more than half the rest of the electorate say they don't know enough about him to form an opinion.

They are “a-skeered” of him. I love it.
See that 6 foot 7 shadow on your wall, Senator Clinton?
Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

If the story is right, the group that claimed that Thompson lobbyied for abortion has ties to a Clinton support group.
Granted, I got that from listening to the radio, but that was something that stuck out to me.
Bizarre as it may sound, it was some liberal talk show blasting Clinton, for not showing enought respect for Obama.

Yikes. I just realized that I typed the very phrase that got Libby convicted! **whispers** I hope Fitzy didn't "hear" me.

The article concludes:
"Presidential politics is a contact sport.
The coming months will show whether Thompson can take a hit and keep on fighting.
And, if he is smart, he will look both to the right and the left when he is crossing the street."
Good advice, and Fred is smart.
The libs don't think so, as many have latched on to the "dumb" meme to criticize Thompson.
The last two Republicans the Left tried that with were Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Both won two-term presidencies, and now "there they go again," this time with Fred.
No, Fred's not dumb. What's dumb is being doomed to repeat your past mistakes because you didn't learn from them.
Dumb is as dumb does.
And the left is doing dumb again...

The source and the very subject matter aside, he better be on the side of truth on this one. The subject wouldn’t be a big matter for the electorate, but if he is being lawyerly and untruthful, quite frankly, he isn’t worth our time.
He gets the nomination and then this pro-abortion group comes up with evidence and he is shown to be untruthful, game over. This particular candidate requires that we commit much to trust and I, for one, am tired of trusting these politicians. I think one of the biggest mistakes of the present Administration is not answering and completely and without equivocation, eviscerating those who make such claims and accusations. I am the last one to accept some leftist, abortionist entity’s version over a conservative. Yet, on the other hand, to ignore the pattern that seems to be developing is not wise either. I know where my candidate stands, and if any such charges are leveled towards him, if he wants my continued support he had best state emphatically and without tergiversation, that the accusations are indeed, false.

Thompson has denied lobbying for the group. The target of the lobbying (Sununu) has denied that Thompson lobbied him. As far as I've been able tell, the group requesting the lobbying has never claimed that Thompson lobbied for him.
The most Thompson has done in this matter is that he potentially provided indirect assistance to the partner at his firm who handled that client by giving him legal advice. Even this is something that Thompson does not recall, though he says it isn't out of the question, and there's no supporting documentation.
In other words, a non-story spread by Clinton operatives.

And circulated here at FR by supporters of 3rd-tier, polling-at-1% candidate supporters. I've noticed by the way, that they must be sharing talking points.

I find it particularly amusing that the supposed “liberated” women of the Left are attacking and denigrating Mrs. Thompson (who was a lawyer and noted lobbyist — and did not flunk the bar exam like one Sen. Clinton) because she is sexy.
Sex appeal is one of the mightiest weapons a woman can wield; ask Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Esther of the Jews, and Mae West.

Wow - EVERY conservative is dumb... and every lib is brilliant... every time. I guess they depend on the public having poor pattern recognition.

Yep and the author manages to get in several of the negative talking points throughout the article.
I don't mind the continued exposure by the bottom feeders, 1%ers, -s, and wannabes as ultimately this will have to be dealt with should Fred win the nomination. Much like the attacks from all sides that was used against Gov. Bush in 99-00.
