Amsterdam: The Dutch government will look into ways to attract Islamic banking to the Netherlands, the finance ministry said in a letter to parliament.
"We think there are chances for the Dutch financial sector," said Finance Minister Wouter Bos in a letter on Friday answering questions from lawmakers.
"Dubai and London are developing into the international centres for Islamic banking. The Netherlands is fit to also play a role here," Bos added.
The finance ministry signalled an increase in the Netherlands in financial products that comply with Islam's ban on interest and the trading of debt.
Minister for Integration Ella Vogelaar told Dutch daily Trouw in remarks published yesterday that Islamic culture is rooting in the Dutch culture in a way that eventually the Netherlands will have a Jewish-Christian-Islamic tradition.
"Ages ago the Jewish community came to the Netherlands and we now say that the Netherlands was created from Jewish and Christian traditions. I can imagine we will see a similar process with Islam," Vogelaar said.
The GCC's largest economy Saudi Arabia is considered the locomotive that will drive the Islamic fin-ance sector's growth in the future.
It is expected the $26-billion King Abdullah City project will throw up a lot of sukuks.
Islamic finance experts insist that the sector must have a secondary market for trading in sukuks and more retail investors should invest in Islamic bond funds.

Netherlands: A Judeo-Christian-Muslim state
The “Judeo-Christian” principles upon which Europe was built are not directly related to the Jews. They are related to the fact that the Christians see the Old Testament as an integral part of their religion and moral code. I suppose Minister Vogelaar is not demanding the same of Muslims.
According to Minister Ella Vogellaar, in an interview with Trouw, Muslim culture is so deeply entrenching itself in Dutch society that in the long run one would speak of a land that is based on a “Judeo-Christian-Muslim” tradition.
The minister for Housing and Integration hopes to end the ‘negativity en the fear of Islam’. “I want to help Muslim feel at home here. Islam and Muslims must take root here, precisely because Muslims are also citizens of this land.”
Vogelaar doesn’t have problem if the (local) government supports to religious institutions of New Dutch, even financially. “So long as you subsidize social goals and not religious activities. Otherwise you cross a border.”
Vogelaar is now speaking differently than various politicians in the past years. Started from the first Balkenende government in 2002, the policy stressed adaptation to Dutch norms and values.
Although the minister doesn’t want to stop the obligation to naturalization and learning Dutch, she now speaks of a “mutual process”, in which cultures influence and stimulate each other. “It is important that such a big group takes root in our society, and becomes an inseparable part of it,” according to Vogelaar.
The minister compares it to the contribution of the Jewish community to Dutch culture. “Centuries ago the Jewish community came to the Netherlands and now we say: the Netherlands is a land formed by the Judeo-Christian traditions. I can imagine that we would get a similar process with Islam.”

Somebody should tell the Dutch about BCCI, “The Bank of Credit and Commerce International” — a muslim bank that imploded in the early 1990’s, evaporating millions of dollars worldwide in the process — and particularly in the US. Apparently the Dutch have forgotten or never learned about that gem of banking history.
It was also the bank the Saudi's used for transfer of money to Pakistan to finance 'The Muslim' Bomb'.
I thought the Dutch already had way more than enough moslems. Are these people suicidal? Can they be that desperate for money? What a stupid move!
The Jews were never intent on having the Dutch be controlled by Jewish laws. Islamics will continue to seek to have Shar'ia control first their own religious compatriots, then throughout the Netherlands.
We may have to say in the future "the Netherlands was created from Jewish and Christian traditions, but the current Netherlandic culture has magically transformed into Islamic."

The basic issue is as follows: Islam has certain dumb laws, like not allowing interest. But, laws are meant to be broken, so what muslims do is have various sale-leaseback, or other sort of repo agreement that have the same effect as interest, they are just super complicated to that they can avoid calling it interest.
A general rule in banking is tha the more complicated something is, the easier it is to hide large fees inside of it. That is why the banks are clamoring to do business with muslims.

If I recall right, both the Netherlands and the Swiss were really big on getting Jew deposits before the Nazis came and big on getting Nazi deposits before the Americans came. Maybe they have something. Dead people don’t make withdrawals. /s/
