story of WMD found in iraq by the finder

"I was in Iraq for a total of 14 months as a civilian contractor for the Department of Defense (working for Halliburton). My original assignment was as an Environmental Specialist. Duties included Environmental Baseline Surveys of the area (land, air, water, etc. testing), hazardous waste (spent fuel and oil) clean-up and storage, incineration, and other environmental duties. You see, during the first Gulf War, we left a bunch of spent fuel and oil all over the border of Kuwait and Saudi, which in turn, they sent us a bill for clean-up that was over a billion dollars.

Anyway, while in my first few months out there (early 2004), the Marine Air wing came across some unknown substance. Chemicals that didn't belong to them and a lot of it. None of the military's personnel had any chemical or HAZMAT training beyond the awareness level, so they asked us if we could assist. It was out of our scope of work, but of course, we were more than happy to check it out.

Upon our first sight at the cashe of chemicals, we immediately pulled back and secured the area because there were several 55 gallon metal drums that had been improperly stored. Parts of these drums were degrading and some were missing caps on the lids, etc. With limited personal protective equipment (PPE), a few of us went in and wrote down the labels that we did find. We went back and researched the names of the chemicals we collected."

The canister in the picture has "Made in Germany Degussa" written on it. Degussa is the German firm that came under heavy investigation after the first Gulf war because it supplied special furnaces to Saddam Hussein to be used in his nuclear program.

Guess what, in 2001 Saddam approve his nuclear scientist to re-use the prohibited nuclear equipment including the Degussa furnaces.

Here is the document that talks about this and which I translated and posted it on FR back in October 24 2006.

Any of that stuff can be declared for use for peaceful purposes, however DMS and Chlorine can be used straight as a weapon. The Mercury could be used to contaminate food and water.

‘The story of Iraq WMD is not over yet, not by any mean.’

But, why hasn’t....isn’t...the Bush admin publicizing this?
I’ve always suspected WMD existed.....and, maybe went to a neighboring country. Seems it would help the President if there was proof of WMD. It would help muzzle the bleeding heart liberals who love to claim the President lied.

A very good post. I saw many pictures of weapons found and I’d even saw a few of barrels but nothing like this. I remember the reports of camouflaged barrels of chemicals found at airbases but interestingly enough no pictures surfaced. Why the Bush administration has been so horrible about dissemination of information. If they had never given up the ground on the WMDs and the justifications for going the war they wouldn’t be facing the kind of poll numbers they are now.

The President is not going to talk about WMD until we find it or find the Precursors that make it. I hope that there is a secret military team that is still hunting for the WMD or its precursors inside Iraq.

there were weapons that Saddam admitted to having that WEREN'T found.

Enough for me. Guilty as charged.

Several year ago there was a barricade incident were the one person in the occupied house claimed to have a variety of weapons. There was a long stand off, then SWAT Teams assaulted the house and blew way everyone inside. A single revolver was found. Law suits flew from every where. The police just played the tapes of the motor mouth inside the house and the cases collapsed. Its the same thing to me. If Saddam said he had WMD's, I see no reason to have to prove it.

The problem lies with the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), the politico/techno group that was tasked to find the WMD. Under heavy political pressure from liberals the group ended its mission very prematurely and concluded that there were no WMD. I read the ISG report on WMD so many times (very long report) and concluded that they looked in the wrong places for WMD. They looked for WMD in the Iraqi ammunition depots. Among hundreds of Saddam ammunitions depots they focused on 18 suspicious ones that may contain WMD and at the end they ended up thoroughly searching a handful.

In any way, Saddam was not that stupid to put his WMD in known ammunition depots because those are the first places the inspectors will be looking at.

Also the ISG never really worked to find out the more probable approach of Saddam Hussein toward WMD which was not to build the final Chemical Weapons products but rather build the Precursors to make the Chemical weapons as I explained in my earlier post.

Also the ISG heavily relied on Iraqi scientists for information about Iraq WMD. This was a huge mistake to do so. First because Saddam adopted some type of a Manhattan style project from 1998-2002 where people worked on some aspects of the WMD program without knowing what will be the final outcome of the whole project. Also per the ISG own admission in the report, they believe that the Iraqi scientists were not forthcoming because they were more afraid from ex-Baathists to take revenge against them than the American interrogators.

I have heard many similar stories of this type since '03, none has being given an ounce of credibility.

I don't think this is a smoking gun either, call me a cynic. The liberal press hates Bush to much to let this get out.

But the stories are credible. Just as the fact that Al Qeada is in Iraq which should trump all WMDs.

It doesn't matter if it is credible, that is my point, the libs in the press won’t acknowledge the truth, even if it staring them in the face. I believe most of the related articles are real as well. It would take a a nuke warhead in a crate that has “made in Iraq” stamped on it to get any airplay from the likes of Michael Ware from CNN, lol.

unbelievable moonbat comments on that site. They’re too far gone even when the evidence is right there in front of them.

I’m sure those barrels contained baby milk formula and ice cream...just ask any Reuters or NYT reporter. Move along...nothing to see here.

You correct but we don’t need Michael Ware on CNN. Conservative leaning news sources do not and should not follow the lead of the left. Even with Fox News kicking the tar out of CNN it still often behaves as if the New York Times and CNN are leading the show. That is what has to change. Conservatives need to be the ones who sell the truth and make sure the truth is the impression the general public is left with.

Really odd, considering Tony Blair apologized for inaccurate intelligence leading up to the war.

The sad part is the Senate Select Intelligence Committee takes the word of the ISG as the final say in their WMD or Iraq & Al Qaeda connection conclusions.
