CAIR blames White House for boosting 'Islamophobia'
The Washington Times ^ | July 18, 2007 | Audrey Hudson and Sam A. Carter

A Muslim civil rights group yesterday blamed the Bush administration for promoting "Islamophobia" and said the "war on terror" won't stop terrorists.

"The new perception is that the United States has entered a war with Islam itself," said Parvez Ahmed, chairman of the national board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

"Terrorism is a tactic. You cannot eradicate it by declaring a war against it. The war on terror is causing us infinitely more harm than the terrorists could have ever imagined."

Mr. Ahmed, who spoke at a CAIR symposium at the National Press Club, said the war against terrorists is driven by an "irrational" fear that the Bush administration has inculcated in the American public. The chance of being killed in a terrorist attack, he said, is 1 in 80,000 over a lifetime.

"It is important to bear in mind that terrorists cannot destroy America," he said, appearing on a panel discussing the symposium theme, "Attacking Islam: Implications for Social Cohesion and U.S. Relations with the Muslim World." The U.S., he said, is too powerful and too resourceful for terrorists to defeat.

The Bush administration's policies in Iraq have driven a deep wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims in the United States, he said.

Somehow I think that whole flying-planes-with-passengers-into-skyscrapers-thing may have produce some phobia responses amongst the public.

Perhaps this by might want to check the newspaper archives and get back to us.

I think you need to shift your decimal point 3 places to the left. That being said, 3,750 is totally unacceptable as well.

Opps! Oh well...I still think my heart's in the right place.

So...given 300 million US citizens, over a lifetime I should expect 3,750,000 US citizens to be killed by Islamic terrorists? Listen, a$$hole, it should be zero! Take your phony religion of peace and go live in the middle ages somewhere else.

It's 3,750 but that is still greater that the correct number of ZERO!

That ‘1 in 80,000 chance of being killed in a terrorist attack’ stat is patently ridiculous to begin with!

Yet somehow this idiot thinks it’s a convincing argument.

"Terrorism is a tactic...."
Yes, you got that right.

"... You cannot eradicate it by declaring a war against it."

In theory, you may be correct, but you cannot eradicate it by ignoring it either, allowing it to grow unchecked like colon cancer. You must destroy each cell as soon as you identify it. If you can learn from it first, then do so, but in the end, each cell must die it's own frightening pig-lined death.

"...The war on terror is causing us infinitely more harm than the terrorists could have ever imagined."

"Us" being IslamoFascists. You're just looking to get the US to ease up, and buying support from your liberal butt-boys in the House and Senate. CAIR is harming Islam.

The chance of being killed in a terrorist attack, he said, is 1 in 80,000 over a lifetime.

Uh-huh. And what are the chances of "being killed in a terrorist [sic] attack", say, in New York, on the 4th of July, in Times Square, Mr. Moslem?

So I am more likely to be killed by a terrorist than win the lottery. I don’t like those odds either. A good reason to keep up the war on terror and Islam. Thanks for helping me decide Ahmed.

The terrorists are to blame for Islamophobia. And unless our country gets serious, the war on terror will not eradicate terrorism. Only "moderate Muslims" can do that. Waiting...waiting...
