The comments bring up some valid points.
I haven’t heard any radio host ask about their supervisor and others being present when they picked up the shell casings, essentially condoning it, and negating the need for a written report.
Did this happen, or am I misinformed?
It is this sort of action by the “base” that has Trent Lott and others (McCain) looking at supporting Democrat calls for controls on talk radio content.
Good question. As Laura noted, he's running around the country like a washed-up actor trying to sell his memoirs.

That’s what I understood too, and that the supervisors were interviewed at the time and the matter was dropped. It was not brought up for months, after Davila’s family talked to the mother of another border agent in Arizona. (Sanchez) Am I wrong about this?

The report Sutton claims that they lied on was an I-44. It’s basically an inventory sheet for seized property, it’s not a report of investigation. Further, Border Patrol policy states that an agent need only make an oral report.
Sutton: "We have found that the drug runners almost never have guns. We checked back to 2001, through 500 loads of marijuana runs, and found only one gun."
