My Church supports Illegals! (Vanity)
July 20, 2007 | Vanity

Posted on 07/20/2007 7:39:35 AM PDT by Kuksool

I received this e-mail from my church's message topics. ---------------------------------------------------------

Mexican Consulate at Iglesia del Pueblo

Tell your Spanish-speaking friends that the Mexican Consulate will be at Iglesia del Pueblo next week, Thursday - Saturday, July 25-28, 9:00 am-3:00 pm, Fellowship Hall. The Consulate will be assisting the local Hispanic population with certificates, passports and other important services. For more information and requirements, call the Consulate's office

------------------------------------------------------

The church takes the Bible seriously. The pastors are quite vocal in speaking out on social issues (gay marriage and abortion). However, they do have a soft spot for Hispanics. For me, I have nothing against Hispanics. I prefer securing the borders first before any guest worker program can be discussed. How should responsible Freepers act if their church is pro-illegal.

I’m not a fan of changing churches often, but that would be a good reason to bolt.

Profiling comes to Church Growth Methodology!

Once you have fooled them into coming, you have to appease them to keep them!

I always believe the passage in Romans 13, where we are told to obey the laws of the land. Why does the church or anyone else give these lawbreakers a pass - would they do the same for people breaking other laws?

Romans 13

Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Find those in your church who are the most vocal and firm proponets of this; then ask them if you can move in with them. Tell them you don’t have a house as nice as theirs, they’ve got better food, better tv, more channels on their cable, etc. Then mention that you’ve got a large, extended family that wants to move in, too. When they say no, remind them that it is wrong to discriminate against the poor.

Don’t forget to mention to them that you expect them to pay for all of your medical/legal expenses until you get back on your feet.

:)

Withhold all donations to the church until they change the policy. Exhort other parishoners to do the same.

The Bible teaches us to obey and respect the law of the land. When a church supports illegal activity they are going against the teaching and aiding illegal behavior. Their compassion is misplaced and misguided. The leaders are setting a bad example to their congregation.

I forgot to add that when my husband was teaching high school last year (mostly hispanic, large percentage illegal illegal parents) he would pitch this idea to them, that he just show up in their house one day, then slowly bring in his family, friends to live with them (the kids). They all thought this was wrong, theft, trespassing, get your own place, make it on your own, don’t be lazy, etc. They were outraged, in short.

My husband would pause, smile a little bit, and say, “Why should I feel any different about my house and my country?” He would then tell them what Mexico does with it’s own illegals....

Everyone should change churches at least once per year, especially the pastors. The phrase “my church” is a misnomer. If it is really ‘your’ church, why would anyone want to go there? “The Church” of course belongs to God. Your attendance there is a matter of conviction. Either you go there because you love God or you have to ask yourself what the real meaning of the third Commandment is. If you are attending there because of something besides your conviction, it must be vanity. If you continue to attend and contribute while the church is involved in illegal activity (such as harboring and supporting illegal immigrants) then you are involved as well. This makes YOU a lawbreaker. I would leave, and make sure everyone knows why.

read them this:

3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

NO, don’t even ask them, just move in clean up a bit and claim you’re doing the work their family won’t do. If one of your children happens to be born in the home and they try to remove you, remember to cry they are breaking up families. Oh, and don’t forget to remind them your ancestors were living in houses before their family moved into that one. :)

That message doesn’t say anything about illegals.

Sounds like it’s time to move on. I would make sure your church leadership knows why.

Don’t give them money. In fact, ask for a refund if your previous money gifts are being used to break the laws of the United States.

When a sinner comes to repent before the altar of God, do you complain that your Church is supporting sinners?

If the Church is setting up a meeting where illegals can start the process of being a legal immigrant, how are they supporting illegals?

It seems to me that your Church is providing the first steps for illegals to make themselves right with the law.

Now if your Church had declared itself a “sanctuary” for illegals about to be deported, I would agree with you. But helping people make themselves legal is exactly what we should be applauding a Church for doing.

Have you actually asked if they are going to help illegals, or are they there just to help legals?

Don’t think I haven’t thought about doing that to Sen. Kennedy and his pro illegal buddies, including Geraldo, but somehow I don’t think it would end well for me. :)

The PCA did an only forum on the issue a while back. It's got 4 viewpoints, and might give you a starting point. http://sites.silaspartners.com/CC/CDA/Content_Blocks/CC_Printer_Friendly_Version_Utility/1,,PTID323422|CHID664014|CIID2260338,00.html
