After chiding Democrat John Edwards for his $400 haircuts, former Gov. Mitt Romney dropped $300 at a California beauty salon to ensure his face was properly powdered during a televised presidential debate.
Romney, always perfectly coiffed on the campaign trail, spent the cash at the Hidden Beauty salon in West Hills, Calif., which employs a mobile beauty team to provide on-the-go hair and makeup services for men, according to its Web site.
For $300, I hope he got a manicure and pedicure, too, Democratic political consultant Michael Goldman said. If Mitt needs to spend $300 to look halfway decent, I can only imagine what Rudy Giuliani is paying.

I’m certainly no romney fan, but this info is a big “So what?” for me.

Yeah, well John Edwards has to spend 1,200, so whats your point you Democrat Hypocrit!
BREAKING NEWS: Dictator Romney's Secret Police now have their own bogus badges.:
Romney aides bogus badges: Sources detail illegal security tactic
" Boston Herald - Friday, July 20, 2007
In an apparent violation of the law, a controverisal aide to ex-Gov. Mitt Romney
created phony law enforcement badges that he and other staffers used on the campaign trail
to strong-arm reporters, avoid paying tolls and trick security guards
into giving them immediate access to campaign venues, sources told the Herald.
They (the aides) knew the badges were fake and probably illegal,
said a presidential campaign source who asked for anonymity
because the story could damage the individuals career.
Two additional sources confirmed that the badges - described as bright silver plates with a state seal attached -
were first created and used by Garrity while Romney was still governor."
Romney aide takes leave after accusations
"BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- An ever-present aide to Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney
took a leave of absence Friday after he became the subject of investigations
in two states for allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer. ...
Jay Garrity, who serves as director of operations and is
constantly at the side of the former Massachusetts governor,
is accused of .... identifying himself as "Trooper Garrity" of the Massachusetts State Police..
Meanwhile, Garrity also has been accused of telling a New York Times reporter ....
that he had run the license plate of the reporter's rental car...
New Hampshire law prohibits citizens from accessing the state's license plate database. "
Romney Staff Involved In 2 Investigations
"A Romney campaign aide is also under investigation by police in Massachusetts for allegedly impersonating a state trooper..."
It's easier to have fun with John "Silky Pony" Edwards' expenses in this regard, because they're routine, not just for special events.
It’s the hypocrisy.
Just a hit piece on Romney. /s
Romney excoriated Edwards for the same thing.
Exactly.
Romney isn't the one campaigning about the horrible injustices of poor America, as John Edwards is.
Some writers just don't get irony.
It’s a matter of non-partisan fairness. If we drub Edwards, we gotta drub Romney. Of course, certain candidates will never have this problem because they have no significant hair to primp. LOL!
John Edwards has to spend 1,200Or more.
It's very irritating that it's come to be known as the "400 dollar haircut" when in fact he paid the travel expenses of the twinks who serviced him, including their hotel room costs. It was in the thousands.
You do have a point there. If Romney chooses to spend his own money, that his business. [There is a vanity factor, though, regardless.]
Ditto. And...the alternative article would be that Romney cheaps out in paying his campaign help.
Campaign money, I would assume. The disclosure came in a filing.
Big deal. He's worth $250 million or more. Since we're all Reagan fans, what's wrong with some money "trickling down" anyway? Fine with me. The reason it's a story with John Edwards is that primping video on YouTube and how he rants about "the poor" and "two Americas" while saying he was on a hedge fund board so he could learn about poverty.Excellent points.
I have problems with Romney (not big problems, I could vote for him in the general election), but he's certainly no Breck Girl. Not even close.
