U.S. senator raises half-million dollars in second quarter

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham raised more than a half-million dollars in the second quarter of this year, pushing his campaign war chest above $4 million.

Among the 21 Republican senators seeking re-election next year, only Sens. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky -- the GOP Senate leader -- and John Cornyn of Texas reported having more cash on hand, as of June 30, than the $4,040,396 in Graham's campaign account.

Lindsey's rattling a saber--"I don't care how much South Carolinians hate my puny guts--I'm not leaving the House of Lords. I've got too much money to worry about a little think like a majority of my constituency seething with outrage."

Little Miss Lindsey better remember Charlie Daniel’s wise words ‘watch where you go, and remember where you been’.

Miss Lindsey sounds worried. He should be.

Ping. Notice how the Dems aren't making any noise at all--Harpootlian is having a good time letting Lindsey squirm. It'd take a daring first-tier GOP candidate (one with money and a chance) to run against Lindsey in the primaries, since Lindsey also has the support of MEL MARTINEZ and the RNC.

I've heard that Lindsey is going to be in Mytle Beach sometime this week talking about "heathcare disparities" at MUSC.

Oh, but Graham's second-quarter total of $543,617 was less than half the $1.2 million he raised in the first three months of this year. But aides denied that the smaller haul was a result of his controversial support for an immigration bill that would have legalized millions of undocumented workers.

In an often bitter debate that dominated news headlines, the Senate considered but ultimately rejected the immigration measure during much of the second-quarter period covered by the latest campaign finance reports. Farmer said the immigration fracas had "minimal" impact on Graham's fundraising efforts.

Let him rattle. One challenger with a fifth of his resources could force him to spend it all before the primary, with no guarantee of winning.

But who says that he doesn't already have a golden parachute deal in his back pocket which will save him the ordeal? I mean, a replacement for the old one of being McCain's Vice President, which couldn't happen now unless Ed Wood were directing the universe.

Lindsey gets his money from lawyers and developers, mostly. Chamber of Commerce--so he's well-funded. This is a press release from his harem to try to scare off a real challenger.

But the Chamber isn't all that many votes.

Upchuck--the report about how the half-mil breads down as per donors should be out in a few days.

This could absolutely happen. Then, the RNC would cut the winner off without a dime and let the Democrat win.

Don't think so? It almost happened to the junior senator from OK.

I have come to believe that the RNC engineered at least some of our 06 losses to give Bush a "congress he could work with" on amnesty. That anti-amnesty pols are pro-WOT and that he was selling out his war support didn't seem to bother GWBush.

If he wins the primary, conservatives in SC still shouldn’t vote for Graham in the general. Let the Rat beat him.

I would LOVE to believe that the campaign money doesn’t matter and that voters will vote on the basis of principle.

However, even though I was born at night, it wasn’t LAST night.

Instead of dumping every possible member of the current Congress and replacing them with STATESMEN and STATESWOMEN who actually give a crap about our country, we will undoubtedly go into the voting booth and punch the same ticket that voters have punched many times in previous elections.

Doing the work to research and elect candidates who will work for ALL of America (not just themselves) simply takes too much . . . . . well, WORK!!!

Two words Lindsey ought to remember when he thinks he's invulnerable...Governor Beasley.

SC is more conservative than it is Republican. I'd describe a lot of voters as testy--very likely to hold a grudge all the way to the voting booth. All the Dems have to do is front a moderate Dem who talks against illegal immigration and there's one less GOP senator.

Please, Lord in heaven, help the Republican party find someone other than Mrs. Graham to run for the US Senate.

Does Sc have a good dogcatcher that has conservative principals?? If, so, I hope he tosses his hat into the ring. Next to seeing McCain implode, there’s nothing I would rather see than Grahmnesty get flushed down the toilet by the people of SC.

In SC, many of us are well aware that the RNC is no friend to conservatism. We wouldn't be surprised.

As to the SC Democrats, they consider Lindsee one of their own. They'd likely not oppose him.

I’m not just going to “let” the Rat beat him.. If Miss Graham makes it past his primary challenge, I intend to HELP the ‘Rat beat him in the general. Only time in my life I’ve ever even contemplated voting ‘Rat, but Graham has angered me enough to do it.

The Dems would then forgo voting in the presidential primary for the DemonRat candidate of their choice.
