The people who opposed the deal still won’t care. Hannity isn’t going to come out and say he was wrong about it, and this is the issue that caused me to stop paying attention to him.
“Oooops.”
I knew this whole brouhaha was stupid and insulting.
As if the U.S. couldn't do it anyway.
I knew it then—the president was right about this.
Well ... if true ... this just exposed United Arab Emirates as CIA co-operatives. No national security breach here. Let’s move on.
That’s what the Bush administration gets for not coming out and stating the facts. Just sit back and get whumped on again and again.
Those against the Dubai Ports deal (for the most part) simply looked at the situation (foolishly) through a straw-size peep whole at thought that was a clear enough view to make a strategic decision from....They were wrong.
Even if this story is true, the response to this is simple: the Bush Administration should have found a different way of paying the UAE back than allowing them to manage our ports.
Of all the quid pro quos possible, giving away any form of access to our port management to an islamic country was and is just plain stupid, from both a security and political standpoint.
And to all of you who are backslapping yourselves since you "knew" there must have been some kind of reciprocal agreement going on with the UAE behind the scenes: don't you thing the terrorist and evil governments out there suspected the same, based on Bush's hints? And wouldn't that affect whether they used the UAE & affiliated companies for shipping?
Any wonder why Chuckie and Hill played this too the hilt at the time? They want to own the ME for the Marxist crowd. No loss for freedom is too great for these people.
Hey, Jimmy Carter leaked the existence of the Stealth program in order to burnish his national security credentials, why should this leak about the UAE being so cooperative with the CIA surprise us? Who benefits from this story? Answer? The Bush Administration.
If this was in fact the motivation behind the Dubai ports deal, the Administration should have done better prep work behind the scenes to get the damn thing passed.
If (as some have suggested) this is just an attempt after the fact to spin things in a favorable manner for the Administration, it didn’t (and won’t) work.
I knew Bush was doing it for a good reason. He is almost always is looking after our national interest. He loves this country and he tries his best to defend it. I still don’t know what he was trying to do with the immigration bill though. It seems he was trying to expand the worker base so we can compete with China and other emerging countries that are not very democratic but it would have been disasterous.
America won, traitors lost! Blackbird.
