Im bailing out. I will no longer defend the policy of keeping U.S. troops in Iraq to assist the Iraqi central government in the ongoing civil war. While our men and women in the military suffer casualties daily, the Iraqi government refuses to take the major political steps required to end the civil war.
The U.S. government told the Iraqi government that it needed to achieve 18 goals. Our administrations recent report to the U.S. Congress on how close the Iraqis have come to achieving those goals states that eight have been achieved, no progress has been made on eight others and two have had mixed results.
With regard to the most important goals, which include bringing the Sunni population into the Shia-dominated government by removing the bans against those (primarily Sunnis) who had served in the prior Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein, the grade was zero.

His RAT true colors finally shine through.
Oh good grief!! I guess ONE month is long enough huh, Ed!!! That’s all it’s been since the FULL troop level has been at this new course.
Why am I not surprised???
What will the Iraqis ever do without this former mayor on their side? /s
What does the US troop level have to do with the Iraqi government's refusal to strike a deal with the Sunnis? That refusal means the civil war will continue. Kock asks: Why should we stay there when the Shia-dominated government doesn't want to -- and won't - stop the war between them and the Sunnis?
Well hell, thats it! When you lose Ed Koch, all is lost!
He’s supporting Hillary in ‘08, and Hillary wants plans drawn up to lose.
I gave praise to Koch in ‘04 for being right on the war, apparently he isn’t fit to shine Lieberman’s shoes. It’s a shame, though, because Hillary is not worth this reversal.
Does this idiot understand that the Bullseye is painted on his back porch?
Where does he think the Second Quarter will be played?
TT
Koch urges withdrawal from Iraq
Koch, great idea, but are you ready to go Nuclear if Iraq becomes an Al Qadah base of operation?
.
>Every Democrat plan leaves Troops in Iraq<
You know, if the rats do get their way and we surrender/withdraw from Iraq, my feeling is that within just a few short years, we’ll look back on this period as a sort of golden age, when we held the advantage and called the tune in the WOT.
We will see that the option to contain the enemy has slipped from our hands and we will have traded what is relatively low grade warfare for a much broader conflict that requires much more sacrifice and committment of resources.
We may want to turn our backs on this war but this war will not turn its back on us. If we allow our enemy to become ascendant, it will be a far different world.
I thought he was dead! Who’s dead?
Once a ‘rat always a ‘rat.
Party trumps country every time with these people. He was a crappy major and I guess the lives of millions of Americans, Iraqis, and the sacrifices of our brave troops mean less to him than the horror of enduring the cold looks at NYC cocktail parties.
Weasel. The blood of those soon to be dead is on his hands.
the lives of millions of Americans, Iraqis, and the sacrifices of our brave troops mean less to him than the horror of enduring the cold looks at NYC cocktail parties.
Yep.
I don’t accept the premise that this IS a civil war and the level of security provided by our troops makes a big difference.
Into the river you go “bail out Kochatouille.”
We won’t be missing you.
The Democrat motto.
“When the going gets tough, bail out and run.”
I don't either.
Well stated. What a jackass. Drop dead, Ed.
