Oh good grief!! I guess ONE month is long enough huh, Ed!!! That’s all it’s been since the FULL troop level has been at this new course.

the FULL troop level has been at this new course.
What does the US troop level have to do with the Iraqi government's refusal to strike a deal with the Sunnis? That refusal means the civil war will continue. Kock asks: Why should we stay there when the Shia-dominated government doesn't want to -- and won't - stop the war between them and the Sunnis?
To: bnelson44
Well hell, thats it! When you lose Ed Koch, all is lost!
To: balch3
He’s supporting Hillary in ‘08, and Hillary wants plans drawn up to lose.
I gave praise to Koch in ‘04 for being right on the war, apparently he isn’t fit to shine Lieberman’s shoes. It’s a shame, though, because Hillary is not worth this reversal.

"Im bailing out"
Well, Ed, we thought you had some spine but you're giving up NOW, just 5 months after General Petraeus arrived in Iraq and just ONE MONTH after the surge reinforcements have all arrived?? That is WORSE than all of your spineless fellow 'RATs, for whereas they bailed early on, you're undermining our effort just when it's reaching its maximum potential for success. Granted, we should have been doing the surge and serious counter-insurgency 3-4 years ago, but why abandon the effort just when it's showing good signs of success?

Koch, great idea, but are you ready to go Nuclear if Iraq becomes an Al Qadah base of operation?

You know, if the rats do get their way and we surrender/withdraw from Iraq, my feeling is that within just a few short years, we’ll look back on this period as a sort of golden age, when we held the advantage and called the tune in the WOT.
We will see that the option to contain the enemy has slipped from our hands and we will have traded what is relatively low grade warfare for a much broader conflict that requires much more sacrifice and committment of resources.
We may want to turn our backs on this war but this war will not turn its back on us. If we allow our enemy to become ascendant, it will be a far different world.

Once a ‘rat always a ‘rat.
Party trumps country every time with these people. He was a crappy major and I guess the lives of millions of Americans, Iraqis, and the sacrifices of our brave troops mean less to him than the horror of enduring the cold looks at NYC cocktail parties.
Weasel. The blood of those soon to be dead is on his hands.

I don’t accept the premise that this IS a civil war and the level of security provided by our troops makes a big difference.

Rats can’t resist the piper.
Into the river you go “bail out Kochatouille.”
We won’t be missing you.
The Democrat motto.
“When the going gets tough, bail out and run.”

The U.S. government told the Iraqi government that it needed to achieve 18 goals...it is the height of arrogance for the US government to tell the Iraqis how many of what kinds of goals they must achieve for our continued militray support - how they resolve or not their political problems, our purpose there is military - to make sure they have enough security to allow them to build their own forces to the point that they can take over their own self-defense and peace-keeping - claims that we should leave because they haven't resolved issues such as who gets what oil money are only attempts to find a quick and easy way out........
