A new Fox News/Opiniom Dynamics poll shows that, for the first time, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would beat any of their Republican rivals in head-to-head matchups in the 2008 general election.

Previously, Rudy Giuliani had been besting Hillary in the polls, but now . . .

Previously, Rudy Giuliani had been besting Hillary in the polls, but now a national telephone poll of 900 registered voters taken on July 17-18 shows Hillary beating Giuliani for the White House by a solid 5 percent.

And even though Barack Obama is behind Sen. Clinton for the Democratic nomination, he too beat Giuliani - and all the other GOP contenders - the the Fox poll.

If the general election were held today, for whom

would you vote?

Hillary Clinton Rudy Giuliani 46% 41

Barack Obama Rudy Giuliani 45 41

Hillary Clinton John McCain 45 42

Hillary Clinton Mitt Romney 50 35

Hillary Clinton Fred Thompson 47 38

Barack Obama John McCain 47 37

Barack Obama Fred Thompson 48 32

Fox News also reports, "when asked which candidate they would definitely vote for under 'almost any circumstances,' once again Clinton tops the list with 17 percent compared to 10 percent for Obama, 9 percent Giuliani, 4 percent Al Gore, 4 percent McCain and 4 percent Thompson."

Of course, Hillary also leads as the candidate respondents would never vote for, with 29% saying they would not pull the lever for her under any circumstances. Giuliani was a distant second with 8%.

In other results, 50% think Giuliani has enough experience to be president, 30% think Hillary is running on husband Bill's experience, 41% think Sen. McCain can turn his campaign around, and 46% think Obama is too inexperienced for the White House . . .

When asked whom they thought would win in 2008, 63 percent of voters said Hillary would "likely" win the White House if she's the Democratic nominee. 35% thought in not very likely she'd win.

CBS also reports: "More voters (75 percent) say Clinton is a strong leader, than say this about Giuliani (71 percent) and Obama (68 percent). Obama has a slight lead over Clinton when voters were asked whether a candidate shares their moral values, while Giuliani trails."

My Opinion: Republican candidates had better start making friends with the media (FOX) - or they will not get any media coverage anywhere before the elections! The liberal media have their darlings that they are currying to win!

So far the both Barack and Hilliary have proposed:

1. A new firearms ban
2. largest tax increase in history
3. appearances at a “gays only” forum
4. weakness in the war on terror.
5. Hilliary voted infavor Amnesty for Illegals.

On the downside, the War in Iraq is like a 200 pound chain around the Republican Party’s neck, Harry Reaid’s “No sleep till we retreat” stunt actually caused his poll numbers to go up.

Small wonder the duncely duo is doing well in the polls, Iraq is killing us.

Iraq will take care of itself if the Democrats quit interfering with our mission there.

While polls can be interesting more or less they have less meaning this early in the 2008 election. I am getting bored with polls; the media use polls, some of questionable credibility, to make news. There are too many variables that are too easy to manipulate to whatever answer you want. Maybe on election eve we will have a few polls that are more accurate. I do agree that the Hillary/Obama combination would be a formidable combination, and could win. I do not need a poll for that observation.

They lead the polls til the summer. The Democrats' advantage always shrinks or disappears after their convention. Right now most voters haven't heard much about Hillary's/Obama's liberalism. The MSM won't get the story about them out to the voters. The Republican candidate will have to do the job. Enough of the "new tone" and being "bipartisan." We've seen how well its helped Bush.

I agree - polls mean nothing really because a pollster can get them to say whatever they want for a fairly predictible result.

Unfortunately - many people who are not knowlegeable rely on the media to give them their quick updates through polls and begin to formulate in their minds their opinions about candidates, Iraq War, the President, the VP, etc!

That's why I say MSM polls are horsefeathers. No wonder they're trumpeting this all over.

I think this is way too early.

There are too many things that will happen before next year to even get worried about this.

Enjoy the summer.

You are absolutely right. Also, I cannot imagine Senator Obama’s stand on sex education will help him.

It is my personal belief that the Republican hierarchy wants to lose in ‘08. Just as they did in ‘06.

Here’s all any Conservative needs to know about Barrack Hussein Obama:

Special Interest Group Ratings:

Planned Parenthood - 100% Support
National Right To Life - 0% Support
NARAL - 100% Support
Americans for Tax Reform - 0% Support
ACLU - 83% Support
NEA - 100% Support
NOW Hags - 100% Support
Citizens Against Government Waste - 13% Support
Gun Owners of America - 0% Support
NRA - “F” Rating
Federation for American Immigration Reform - 0% Support
US Border Patrol - 8% Support
Unions - 82% - 100% Support
Population Connection - 100% Support (These are the ‘Zero Growth’ freaks)

http://vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=BS030017

[Barrack Hussein Obama’s record in the Illinois senate:]

- Opposed the Defense of Marriage Act; would work to repeal it in the U.S. Senate; would not vote for any legislation that would restrict the ability of gays and lesbians to marry.
- Opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die according to the mother’s wishes. Obama inexplicably opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.
- Obama took almost $90,000 in bundled contributions from the Council for a Livable World. The council is a well-known anti-defense organization.
- Obama puts rigid ideology before what’s best for the people of Illinois, and presumably he would do that as President as well. He has on several occasions made public his opposition to the NAFTA trade agreement and his belief that it must be negotiated. All the while thanks to NAFTA, Illinois exports $1.3 billion in agricultural goods to Canada.
- Obama refused to vote for a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have increased penalties for drug traffickers.
- Obama voted against a bill that would have delivered the death penalty to gang members who murder first responders.
- Finally, just in case you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Obama was the only member of the Illinois State Senate to vote against a bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators.

Can’t kill the innocent fast enough, can’t free the guilty soon enough!
