Bush Back in Power after Colonoscopy
CBN ^ | July 21st, 2007 | AP

CBNNews.com - CAMP DAVID, Md. - President Bush transferred the powers of his office to Vice President Dick Cheney for more than two hours Saturday while under sedation for a colon cancer screening.

Doctors removed five small polyps during the procedure at Camp David. "None appeared worrisome," White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said. Polyps are precancerous growths in the colon.

All the polyps were less than a centimeter and were sent for microscopic examination to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Results were expected within 72 hours.

The colonoscopy lasted 31 minutes; the sedated president was asleep the whole time. The transfer of power from Bush to Cheney covered two hours and five minutes.

The president invoked Section 3 of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution "out of an abundance of caution." Stanzel said. The amendment, approved in 1967, four years after President Kennedy was assassinated, had been used only twice before.

At 7:16 a.m. EDT, Bush invoked the disability clause and transferred his authority to Cheney. The vice president was at his home on the Chesapeake Bay in St. Michaels, Md., about 30 miles east of Washington.

Did they find his head? I believe it’s been up there since the start of the debate of immigration reform.

First thing I thought of!

GtG

PS Old joke: "Your proctologist called, they found your head!"

I had a colonoscopy last year and they did not give me any sedation. I was awake the whole time.

The nurse supposedly sedated me, but during the whole procedure I was awake also, watching on the monitor, and talking to the nurses and doctors. It was kinda cool, except for the discomfort.

Actually, the worst part of the procedure is the preparation. Yuk.

After the procedure I felt fine, although some of the patients were out or barely coherent.

Then I asked the doctor, I bet you meet many a$$holes in this type of work. He said, "I do, especially the ones who talk through the whole procedure."

>>I have become very disillusioned by our system of law and order in this country. My point was that had they finished the criminal bastard off then and there, they wouldn’t be sitting in prison now.

Didn’t they skuffle with crook before he fled? and didn’t he try to escape back across the border? I find no fault in shooting a fleeing criminal. Maybe that’s why I like the Dirty Harry movies so much.<<

Interesting. I have not read about a scuffle - violence against an officer would change the equation, at least to me. Its the difference between shooting into a fleeing car versus shooting into a car after the driver tried to run down an officer.

That was yesterday, during the prep, that everything came out. ;9)

I hope they didn’t find anything that needed removing.

it’s different when they know they have to cut out polyps. I had to have sedation for those also. many people can undergo no sedation in an office visit for a routine colonoscopy, but not when a blade is in involved.

Now the Prosecution knew the whole story and never should have gone for such a lengthy harsh sentence. The prosecution is also covering up and should be punished.

But I don’t want cops shooting unarmed people down from behind over suspicion of a non-violent crime. So I am not sorry they were convicted of something, even if this particular person they shot turned out to be a scumbag.

Exactly right - The sentence was too harsh - This is just another example of our system having out of control prosecutors ....

At the same time we do not live in a police state where officers can fire their weapons and then not be upfront and totally honest about such. By either omitting the number of shots they fired, not saying they fired their weapons altogether, or being coy in some manner or another. These officers fired their weapons multiple times and were not up-front about doing such. There has to be a penalty for such (removing them from their job...with no prison time would have been appropriate regarding this case...IMPO).

I hope they remembered to remove the scope when they were finished. Otherwise President Bush might have that strained Katie Couric look on his face from now on. I think they forgot to remove the scope from Katie. She always looks like its still in there causing some discomfort. I cant think of any other reason why she has that permanent twisted smirk of pain on her face.

I hope his proctologist reports he has a perfect a-hole and I hope he responds, “I have a lot of ‘em, Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, Dingell, Obama, Clinton, the other Seven Dwarfs, etc.”

JFK was made of “tougher” stuff. He negotiated with the Soviets while doped up on pain killers and rumored illicit and then unclassified drugs.

You might want to rephrase that...

Doctors always sedate you here for a colonoscopy. There is another procedure where they don’t but they do for the colonoscopy. They’ve been after me to have mine for two years. :-(

It could be that your insurance wouldn’t pay for the sedation if you have insurance. Some don’t.

“I do not understand. I had a colonoscopy last year and they did not give me any sedation. I was awake the whole time.”

That is very unusual. They will not let you leave until you use the bathroom [pee]. Something about waking your kidney’s up. And that takes a while.
