Barack Obama's recent statement about not worrying about what might happen to the Iraqis if we left implies he would not have favored keeping federal troops in the south to protect the former slaves after the Civil War. Federal troops stayed for a decade in spite of not being able to fully protect the former slaves. Under the Obama doctrine they wouldn't have stayed that long.
For those unfamiliar with 19th U.S. history, the withdrawal of federal troops allowed development of a system in which whites could rape or murder blacks with no fear of punishment. __________________

He is actually a black man of direct african descent. He doesn’t have the “my ancestors were slaves” baggage but you never know; his real african ancestors might have been in the slave trade rounding them up and selling them.
Is he human (enough)? Or, just a Hollywood production?
1. The premise that attempts to equate one situation (Iraq) to another (Reconstruction) is flawed on two counts: a) it’s a hypothetical and b) the situations themeselves do not equate because the circumstances surronding both are completely different. This is a flawed argument and the only place I would expect see somethign like this seriously considered would be the Berkeley faculty lounge. Whoever postulated this premise should be ashamed of themselves.
2. The question is NOT “IS Obama ‘black’ enough?” (even black folks argue amongst themselves about what it is to be “authentically black”), it is “Does Obama provide a viable alternative for democrats vs. Hilary Clinton?”
The answer to this question is: HELL NO (and no, I don’t want a President Hilary, but she is beatable — just ask her for details on her lofty pronouncements and she’ll prove her inadequacies). It’s a resounding “HELL NO” because democrats have attention spans measured in RPM’s, and because white democrats have mastered the art of manipulating black grievances, while doing nothing about them, and still mine votes from them.
3. In 10 years the question will have to be rephrased as “Is Juan Martinez, the Harvard-educated, former XYZ Corporation CEO, Black-Belt Baptist minister, HISPANIC enough?”
4. Too much energy is spent on worrying about the black portion of the American electorate. According to the Census Bureau (as of 2000), blacks will no longer be a statistically-significant portion of the population by 2055 (give or take a few years) due to the out-of-control rates of black-on-black murder, incarceration, out-of-wedlock-births, heart disease, diabetes (just to start with). The black community doesn’t care about itself, or what is truly important to it’s continued survival and vitality, so why should anyone else? If anything, the question of “authenticity” is a ridiculous one when there are much bigger problems to be faced.
5. Obama will get to make his case. Will blacks listen? My guess is, yes, BUT only if he continues the practice of infantilizing his own people for personal and political gain. If Obama presents himself as a decent guy with workable ideas who doesn’t buy into the “the system is against us” mentality, he will lose.

The bigger question is: is he a closet Muslim?
I think that every africanhyphenamerican should carefully read your point #4 and take a close and cynical look at their overseer, the democrat party. They should ask themselves, and they never will, why it is that their overseers take them so much for granted and facilitate their destruction. One answer is that there are other convenient ethnic minorities for the democrats to corrupt such as muslims and hispanics (or further corrupt in both these cases), when africanhyphenamerians are no longer numerous enough to be a significant voting block.

If you’d really like to know the truth about what folks in "the hood" think about blue eyed Barak, well then you simply must go to "the hood."
Meanwhile, the BS continues to pile up concerning this so called “race war” for the Democrat Party nomination next year.
It has been etched in stone for at least 14 years (and perhaps much longer) that it will be the Beast, and everything else is simply “dressing” when it involves what is coming.
