ROCKVILLE, Md. — Charges against a man accused of repeatedly raping and molesting a 7-year-old girl were dismissed last week because the court could not find an interpreter fluent in the suspect's native West African language.
Mahamu Kanneh, a Liberian native who received asylum in this country and attended high school and community college here, according to The Washington Post, was denied a speedy trial after three years awaiting a court-appointed interpreter who could speak the tribal language of Vai.

Prosecutors pointed out that Kanneh attended high school and community college in Montgomery and spoke to detectives in English.
A court-appointed psychiatrist recommended that an interpreter be appointed and judges who handled subsequent hearings heeded that advice.
Loretta E. Knight, the court clerk responsible for finding interpreters, said her office searched exhaustively for a speaker of Vai. She said court officials contacted the Liberian Embassy and courts in all but three states.
The Washington Post reported that it identified three Vai interpreters Thursday with help from the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters, including one in Gaithersburg.

FOX News spoke with a man who claimed to be Kanneh in a five-minute phone conversation on Sunday in English. He said the allegations against him were false and the dismissal of the charges was “a good thing.” Asked if the accusations were true, he responded, “I said what I had to say” and hung up.
According to witnesses who originally reported the case to authorities, Kanneh allegedly repeatedly raped and sexually molested the girl, a relative. In a statement made by the girl to police, she said she had been told she’d be forced to stay in the apartment unless she had sex with Kanneh.

I totally agree, this invasion is destroying entire neighborhoods. Ann Coulter wrote an article about this. In the past you would have very regulated immigration, people coming through Ellis island and congregating in particular neighborhoods like Little Italy or Chinatown here in New York city. Even where I live now in Sunnyside Queens, it use to be all Irish part German, today it`s a Tower of Babel. Nobody knows what the other person is saying. The problem is our politicians who are selling out the country to foreign invaders. I like Bush, but let`s see how he would react if 200 different nationalities started moving around his ranch.

Well, obviously, they should have sought out the teachers at the high school and community college that he attended. They must have been able to speak his tribal language.
-one of the talking head lawyers of Fox said that there was a translater in the court record AND that the guy went to high school and community college here......HOW did he do all that without speaking English? This is a crock.....the judge must be a liberal loony dem judge.
