WASHINGTON, July 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Over the past three years, a handful of communities quietly conducted a breakthrough pro-life campaign called 40 Days for Life, creating extraordinary results," said Shawn Carney, spokesman for the 40 Days for Life campaign. "On Wednesday, July 25, at 9:00 PM Eastern, the campaign's cutting edge strategies, track record of lifesaving results, and plans for this fall's aggressive nationwide rollout will be revealed to pro-life advocates across the country on a large teleconference and web simulcast."

This aggressive nationwide campaign, which will kick off September 26, 2007, is focused on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of round-the-clock peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and 40 days of aggressive community outreach. The significance of 40 days comes from examples in sacred scripture where God transformed individuals, cities, and nations in 40 day periods. " Just think of the transformation God could accomplish when individuals and communities across America unite this fall for 40 days of prayer and fasting, pulling out all the stops to end the violence of abortion," said Carney.

According to Carney, the campaign has already proven successful in seven communities in Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and North Carolina. "The first 40 Days for Life that was conducted in College Station, Texas exceeded all of our expectations," said Carney. "In just 40 days, over 1,000 new pro-life volunteers were activated; more than 25,000 households were reached through a grassroots door-to-door effort; local, state, and national news was generated; and most importantly, the local abortion rate was slashed by 28%."

The teleconference and web simulcast will be hosted by Carmen Pate, co-host of the nationally syndicated Point of View radio talk show. Individuals and communities can learn more and register to participate at: www.ProLifeBreakthrough.com.

"Now is the time for America to return to its roots as a nation that respects and protects the unalienable right to life for every person – born and pre-born," continued Carney. "40 Days for Life invites all people of faith and conscience to join in God's work of bringing an end to the tragedy of abortion in America."

I can understand why it was so successful at College Station. Texas A & M is a very conservative college compared to its liberal counterpart (University of Texas at Austin).

But I imagine this movement will catch on all over the country recruiting a new generation of pro-lifers and having pro-life families...

God bless the people who are organizing this effort, and for all the pro-life people that have hung in there against seemingly impossible odds in our society. Thank you.
