These guys were scientists, PhD’s in biochemistry every one of them, and knew not to drink too much of it. They made it up right there in the lab. I think they got a thrill from the crazy looks they’d get from the people around them. These guys also happened to have survived some of the bloodiest battles of WWII. Not a lot of fear in these guys but, remember, a lot of water gets dissolved with methanol when you mix it with ice. These same guys also ate castor beans, you know, that ricin is made from. They would roast them over a fire and just plop them in their mouths.
They were real characters who were a lot of fun to be around. They all lived to be old men. Some of them are still alive and are well into their 80’s. As I said, your body does a good job eliminating poisons. Worrying about a small amount of formaldehyde coming from aspartame doesn’t make any sense.
