Do the Democrats Mean It? Probably Not (Man, I hope he's right)

The Democrats are poised to hurl America right over the cliff, to the rocks below.

Wait -- I didn't say they long to do such like, or that, in suicidal mood, they'd take the chance if they got it, assuming they win big in 2008. I think if they do win, much of the creepy teeth-baring and chest-pounding they presently go in for will likely just . . . go away.

....break......

I mean, one can't help wondering: Aren't we talking about two different things here -- 1) talking up American abandonment of Iraq and 2) actually watching as U.S. troops head for the hills, under White House orders, and Iraqis start blowing up one another in earnest?

...break...

So what eats at these people, these Democrats? One more reasonable guess and I'll quit: Opportunism eats at them, gnaws their ankles, consumes their innards. The Democrats frankly don't care what they say so long as whatever it is appears to inflame the voters, stir discontent with the present Republican regime; so long as it seems to lift the Democratic party a little nearer to the goal of power.

...break...

Program? Ideas? Mere incidentals. They'll think of something when the time comes.

We've seen some of this already. Dems know how to win, not how to govern or set an agenda. Maybe that lack of an agenda is a fortunate thing.

This is by design. They'll say all the stuff that constitutes "read meat" to their base, but in the end, they will be "Republicans Lite", ie, like RINO's, but they call them DINO's over "there".

Folks, its a buddy system in DC, the public posturing, but then the private get togethers and beers, I've seen it first hand.

The democrats do want to retreat from Iraq but they want to force Bush to retreat even more. They know that a retreat and the resulting chaos will be bad for the party in power.

They want troops out of Iraq now, not when they hold power.

According to Rep King (R NY) as soon as today the Dems are going to strip an amendment from Homeland Security Bill, that would give peeople who report suspicious people or activity ammunity from Persecution.

According to him CAIR and the MoveOn .org Fascist want it out. Just think about it, forget the Imam’s, Joe Arpio (?sp)set up a hotline for people to turn in illegals or drop houses yesterday. Once the Evil Dums finish today anyone that turns in illegals will be sued. PAY ATTENTION FOLKS-YOU CAN NEVER REST-THE FASCIST SOCIALIST COMMIE DUMS ARE ALWAYS THINKING UP WAYS TO BURN OUR CONSTITUTION.

Oh they mean it! However...

If Bush can stabalize things in Iraq a bit until 2009 I think that any Democrat in the White House will be more reluctant to be seen as the agent of cutting and running.

Its one thing to pressure Bush into sentencing the nation to an orgy of terrorist retaliation, its another to sign the death warrant yourself...

I’ve seen it second hand. Addressing your post, not the article as unfortunately I haven’t read beyond the excerpt yet.

Our Government due tenure has evolved to a show similar to Thursday night WWF if that is still going on. It’s political theater, but the ending of this current play will be disastrous for America with the current cast of characters.

We really need to Flush The Congressional Bowl at least three consecutive election cycles, and then we must consider term limits, because for example the effects of tenure by such as Kennedy, Byrd, Feinstein, Boxer, and other goofs including several RINO’s.

We also must insist upon leadership change in the Republican Party to eliminate the Moderates whom are RINO’s whom are Liberals that allow anybody to use the title “Republican” for personal political convenience. Re: Bloomberg, Giuliani, Hagel, Warner, etc.

The Republican Party then needs a screening procedure to ensure no self serving Leftist Politico (Lib or Mod) does use the Umbrella of the party for advancing his/her political career, and top it off with a Conservative Oath.

“the Dems are going to strip an amendment from Homeland Security Bill, that would give peeople who report suspicious people or activity ammunity from Persecution.”

That will appeal to Muslim voters, while endangering all other Americans. This is the kind of crap the Democrats always pull. E.g., the immigration “reform” act. The Democrats in Congress are a bunch of self-serving elitists.

Quite possibly true, but I don’t think they really control their base, anymore than John McCain and Lindsey Graham can control ours.

They seem to be very serious about “universal health care”,
getting out of Iraq, wealth redistribution, etc. The idea
of solid Republicans “having a beer” and getting palsy-walsy
with socialists appalls me.
