Before he was elected as a tough-on-crime U.S. senator from Tennessee or played a New York prosecutor on TV's "Law and Order," Fred Dalton Thompson worked as a lawyer who argued against the government's authority to regulate drug paraphernalia or to search a boat packed with 14 tons of marijuana.
Once, two decades ago, he urged that more witnesses refuse to testify before grand juries by invoking their constitutional right against self-incrimination, boasting that "I start on the assumption that my client will not testify." And over the years, lawsuits he filed helped a state worker win reinstatement to her job while exposing a parole bribery scheme and won money for the family of a Marine pilot killed by a helicopter blade when the family could not sue the Defense Department.

If it comes down to Edwards or Thompson, the ambulance chasers won't know who to support.
The liberals and their lap dogs are foaming at their mouths. Essentially, this means Fred is the right person for the job. I was undecided till recently; now, I am convinced about the man and his qualifications.
Duncan Hunter still rates very highly in my book but Fred is getting close to my first preference with each passing day and with each attack by the libtards and their lackeys.
It is worry bead time for the Washington Post. The best outcome for them is a democrat, and they are in a snit over the possibility of a 12 year, or more, republican presidency.
Whatever will happen to summers in Martha’s Vineyard?

I’m still liking Fred........after all.... he wasn’t channeling unborn children.
The rest of the article on pages 2 and 3 doesn’t support the author’s premise as stated in the article’s title. Both Keene and Norquist clearly understand Thompson’s work and views as a lawyer.
Nothing to see here folks.
Good evening, familop - good FRiend. How are you?
Oh, there is no comparison. Fred is a man, a conservative one at that. Edwards is the lowest scum on the earth. I still hate the trial lawyers lobby, though.
But not Hillary. She did things at the Rose Law Firm that collide with RAT orthodoxy. Why isn't the Post all over her for that??
Thompson is apparetnly a good lawyer, so I’ll cut him some slack. If the ACLU lawyers come out for him, forget it.
This is great news to me. As a conservative-libertarian, I want to see the drug war ended and let the states deal with it.
I was thinking the same thing! They wouldn’t have to dig far to strike gold if they’d bother trying. Maybe the problem is that it wouldn’t be news, we already know what an unethical corrupt witch she is.
During his 1994 Senate campaign, Thompson ran on a staunch anti-crime platform that called for keeping repeat offenders in prison, enforcing the death penalty, abolishing parole and getting tough on juvenile offenders. That image was burnished in recent years by his role as no-nonsense district attorney Arthur Branch on the popular "Law and Order" TV show.Only in the mind of a white urban liberal could be "tough on crime" and supporting the 4th amendment to the Constitution seem a conflict. He represents diverse clients? Isn't that a good sign? And Grover Norquist is nervous about him...a very good plus for Thompson in my book. But earlier in his life, Thompson challenged the right of government to compel testimony or search property, according to a review of hundreds of pages of court filings, transcripts and contemporaneous news accounts.
LOL!!!!
---> Further confirmation that Fred's the right man.
i pretty much detest lawyers except when I have needed one to save me - and I’ve been lucky to get some good ones then.
the title gives away a democrap editor immediately.
