But, but, but AIDS didn't even make the list.

Rest assured, the CDC and the GLTG folks are scrambling to get everything but firearms and auto accidents reclassified as AIDS-related.

And they're working angles on those two....

All Ages
Motor Vehicle Accidents 43,354
Firearms 28,663

What is also interesting about the Firearms statistics is the note at the bottom of the table:

NOTE: Firearms Statistics Include Gang Warfare, Self Defense Shootings and Criminals Killed by Police

Firearms deaths had to be lumped together simply to get into the top ten.

I bet it’s not listed. Scrolling down to see if the list is here.

The 1.29 million abortions in 2002 would put it comfortably at the top of the list.

Did anybody see abortions listed? Doesn’t a living, breathing baby die each time there’s an abortion? What am I missing?

Did anybody see abortions listed?

Abortions are not considered deaths, in some wacko-liberal way of thinking.

More than 96% of Americans die within six months of their birthday.

Unbelievable, but true.

Can you guess the number one cause of death in the USA in 2002?

Mainstream media still reading the New York Homosexual Times as its primer.

Leading cause of death is birth. Without birth, there is no death.

Nothing in there about second-hand tobacco smoke.

How can that be?

According to several, that's the deadliest thing on the planet.

Notice the LAST cause of Accidental death?
Accidental Discharge of Firearms: 776
Falls: 13,322

Falls kill 17 times more people than firearm accidents. Where is the Brady Bunch? They should save us all from falling. There should be a law that mandates wheelchair use for everyone over 65 years old. That could save over 8000 lives a year. Thats 60% of all deaths by fall of those over 65 years old.

The heart stopping?

Close.

Actually, the number one cause of death worldwide...
in fact, the cause of death for everyone who ever died is lack of oxygen to the brain.

I agree with you. And even though it is never on time with what it is supposed to do and has a less than stellar record at doing it, the agency now wants the right to regulate tobacco. Which isn’t even a drug as the term is defined under the law (which differs from the dictionary definition, of course.)

I was surprised that Arkancides didn’t make the list. There sure have been a lot of them.
